Job Title: Shipping and Receiving Supervisor Location: Los Fresnos, TX Position Type: Full-time with extended hours, including evenings and weekends during peak shipping season Pay: $15.00 per hour (hourly); hours over 40 per week paid at the regular rate Position Overview Los Fresnos Nursery seeks a hands-on Shipping and Receiving Supervisor to lead daily inbound and outbound operations for our wholesale nursery. This person keeps orders accurate, on time and in saleable condition, and keeps the crew organized during our busiest weeks of the year. The ideal candidate is bilingual, shows a strong sense of commitment and responsibility, takes ownership of their work, takes initiative without waiting to be asked, and is willing to step in to support production, inventory and other departments when the operation needs it. Flexibility to work extended hours, especially during the shipping peak season, is essential. Key Responsibilities Shipping Plan and supervise daily order pulling, staging, loading and shipping of finished plants and liners to customers and company facilities. Verify orders for correct variety, size, quantity, tags and plant quality before loading. Schedule trucks and coordinate pickup times with carriers, sales and customers. Prepare and review bills of lading, pick tickets, packing lists and other shipping documents. Load trucks and racks safely and efficiently to minimize plant damage and freight cost. Receiving Receive incoming liners, pots, trays, soil and other supplies; check quantities and condition against purchase orders. Report shortages, damages and discrepancies to purchasing and management promptly. Make sure received material is logged in the inventory system and moved to the correct location. Inventory Maintain accurate shipping and receiving records and support physical inventory counts. Keep the shipping area, docks and staging zones clean, organized and ready for the next day's orders. Cross Department Support Support other departments, such as production, spacing, potting, or inventory, when shipping volume allows, or the operation requires it. Work Schedule & Working Conditions Full-time hourly position paid $15.00 per hour; hours vary with order volume, and all hours, including those over 40 per week, are paid at the regular hourly rate under the agricultural overtime exemption. Extended hours, including some evenings and weekends, are expected during the peak shipping season. Work is performed outdoors, in greenhouses and on loading docks, in Texas heat, cold and wet conditions. Able to stand, walk, bend and lift for long periods. Able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. regularly. Able to safely operate forklifts, pallet jacks and other material-handling equipment. Qualifications & Requirements Fluent in English and Spanish 2+ years of shipping, receiving or warehouse experience, including at least 1 year in a leading supervision role Willingness to work extended hours, early mornings, evenings, and weekends during peak season. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail with orders, counts and paperwork. Basic computer skills, including email, Excel and an inventory or order system. Ability to safely operate a forklift. High school diploma or GED. Preferred Qualifications Experience in a wholesale nursery, greenhouse, or agricultural operation. Familiarity with plant varieties, container sizes and plant quality standards. Experience coordinating carriers and freight.
