Shipping & Receiving Lead / Inventory Coordinator

We are looking for a reliable, organized, and safety-minded Shipping & Receiving Lead / Inventory Coordinator to join our team. This role is responsible for coordinating incoming and outgoing shipments, maintaining accurate inventory records, organizing materials, and ensuring finished products are prepared and documented for shipment. The ideal candidate is hands-on, detail-oriented, comfortable in a steel manufacturing environment, and able to take ownership of shipping, receiving, and inventory functions. Key Responsibilities Coordinate incoming and outgoing shipments. Receive and verify steel, hardware, components, and production materials against purchase orders and packing slips. Inspect deliveries for quantity, damage, and discrepancies. Maintain accurate inventory records and material locations. Perform cycle counts and investigate inventory discrepancies. Monitor stock levels and communicate shortages to Purchasing and Production. Stage materials for production and upcoming manufacturing orders. Prepare finished products for shipment, including packaging, labeling, and load preparation. Prepare bills of lading, packing slips, and receiving documentation. Coordinate pickups and deliveries with freight carriers, suppliers, and customers. Operate forklifts and other material-handling equipment safely. Load and unload trucks and organize material throughout the shop and yard. Maintain clean and organized shipping, receiving, and inventory areas. Support continuous improvement of inventory control and material-flow processes. Assist with general shop and material-handling duties as required. Follow all company safety procedures and workplace policies. Qualifications Previous experience in shipping, receiving, warehousing, inventory control, manufacturing, or logistics preferred. Experience with inventory and logistics software is considered an asset. Forklift operating experience is preferred. Experience operating a Combi-Lift is considered an asset. Experience handling steel, pipe, HSS, or fabricated products is considered an asset. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Comfortable using computers for inventory transactions, receiving, and shipping documentation. Ability to read purchase orders, packing slips, and bills of lading. Strong communication skills and ability to work with multiple departments. Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently. Strong commitment to workplace safety, quality, and accuracy.
