Role Definition The Shipping & Receiving Clerk reports to the Section Manager and plays a critical role in supporting the efficient flow of materials throughout Caterpillar's Electric Power Division. This position is responsible for coordinating incoming and outgoing shipments, maintaining inventory accuracy, supporting material movement across multiple production areas, and ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and operational standards. The role serves as a key point of contact between production, logistics, warehouse, and transportation teams to help ensure on-time delivery and uninterrupted manufacturing operations. What You Will Do Process and coordinate inbound and outbound shipments. Receive, inspect, verify, and distribute materials to support production needs. Maintain accurate inventory records and support cycle counts and inventory audits. Coordinate material movement between warehouse, production, and logistics teams. Track shipping, receiving, and inventory performance metrics. Resolve material, inventory, and shipping discrepancies with cross-functional teams. Maintain compliance with safety, quality, and operational procedures. Support process improvements that enhance efficiency and on-time delivery. Maintain shipping, receiving, and inventory documentation using business systems and Microsoft Office applications. Communicate daily with production, warehouse, and logistics teams to support operational goals. What You Will Have Strong teamwork and collaboration skills. Ability to effectively resolve individual and team conflicts. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Proficiency with standard business software and computer applications. Working knowledge of Griffin facility policies, procedures, and work processes. Effective interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive working relationships across teams. What Will Put You Ahead Prior shipping, receiving, warehouse, inventory, or material handling experience. Experience utilizing SAP or other inventory management systems. Experience tracking and reporting operational performance metrics. Demonstrated ability to support continuous improvement initiatives. Experience working in a manufacturing or production environment. Physical Requirements Occasionally lift materials up to 35 pounds individually or 70 pounds as a team lift. Ability to bend, reach, squat, and perform material handling activities as needed.
