About Us Travis Association for the Blind/Austin Lighthouse (TAB) a non-profit organization, was founded in 1934 by Dr. Henry L. Hilgartner and other civic-minded citizens of Austin to provide a setting where blind men and women could come to learn skills and create products that were sold door to door. Responsibilities Performs clerical and physical tasks in connection with shipping goods and receiving incoming shipments. Handle unusual non-routine problems, receives specific guidance from supervisor or other officials. Perform day-to-day, routine tasks, follows TAB's established guidelines. Removing material from storage racks and preparing it for shipment. Loading trucks to ship products to customers. (Direct) Unloading received products from the trucks. (Direct) Shipping duties typically involve the following: Verifying that orders are accurately filled by comparing items and quantities of goods gathered for shipment against documents; ensuring that shipments are properly packaged, identified with shipping information, and loaded into transporting vehicles; and preparing and keeping records of goods shipped, e.g., manifests, bills of lading. Receiving duties typically involve the following: Verifying the correctness of incoming shipments by comparing items and quantities unloaded against bills of lading, invoices, manifests, storage receipts, or other records; checking for damaged goods; insuring that goods are appropriately identified for routing to departments within the establishment; preparing and keeping records of goods received. Complies with and assists other employees understand and comply with TAB's Safety and Security policies and guidelines.
