Shipping & Receiving Clerk

Summary A Shipping and Receiving Clerk is responsible for managing incoming and outgoing shipments, ensuring accuracy, proper documentation, and timely processing. This role supports warehouse operations by verifying goods, maintaining records, and coordinating with carriers and internal teams. Roles and Responsibilities Accept and inspect incoming deliveries for accuracy and damage Verify quantities against purchase orders and packing slips Unload shipments and organize items in designated storage areas Prepare and package outgoing orders according to company standards Generate shipping labels and documentation Coordinate with carriers to ensure timely pickups and deliveries Update inventory systems with received and shipped items Assist with cycle counts and inventory audits Report discrepancies, shortages, or damaged goods Maintain accurate records of all shipments and receipts File and track shipping and receiving documents Ensure compliance with company and regulatory requirements Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, or hand trucks as needed Ensure equipment is used safely and maintained properly Communicate with vendors, carriers, and internal departments Resolve shipping or receiving issues (delays, damages, missing items) Coordinate scheduling for inbound and outbound shipments Qualifications 1+ years of shipping, receiving, or warehouse experience preferred Familiarity with shipping software or warehouse management systems (WMS) Basic math and computer skills Forklift certification (or ability to obtain) Attention to detail and accuracy Organizational and time management skills Communication and teamwork Problem-solving ability Ability to work in a fast-paced environment Safety: Observe and follow health and safety regulations Enforces operating instructions and safety policies. Assist management in establishing warehouse standards and procedures Maintain detailed records of safety incidents Assign designated safety personnel Maintain warehouse in a clean, safe, and orderly condition.
