SHIPPING & RECEIVING ASSOCIATE Pay Range: Up to $25.00/hr Sign-On Bonus up to $2500 ABOUT AEM: We are a fast-growing, full-service, high precision metal fabricating facility. POSITION SUMMARY: American Engineering & Metalworking (AEM) has an immediate opportunity for a full-time, 1st Shift Shipping & Receiving Associate. In this dual-function role, you will manage material staging, loading, unloading, and inventory tracking for raw metal stock, sheet metal, structural steel, and finished fabrications. Additionally, you will perform local deliveries and pickups of material, equipment, and assemblies using company flatbeds or box trucks. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Shipping & Receiving Operations Safely load and unload flatbeds, trailers, and delivery trucks using forklifts, overhead cranes, and material handling equipment. Verify incoming metal shipments (coils, plates, tubing, hardware) against purchase orders, bills of lading (BOL), and mill test reports (MTRs) for quantity, accuracy, and physical damage. Package, band, crate, and strap finished metal products and custom fabrications to ensure safe transport. Prepare shipping documentation, including BOLs, packing slips, manifest paperwork, and shipping labels. Maintain accurate inventory records by performing ERP/WMS system transactions and assisting with cycle counts. Transport & CDL Driving Operate CDL-required company vehicles for local customer deliveries and supplier pickups. Secure heavy metal loads properly using chains, binders, straps, and tarps in compliance with DOT regulations. Conduct required pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and maintain driver logs. Adhere strictly to all DOT rules, federal highway regulations, and local driving laws. Safety & Warehouse Operations Follow all company safety protocols, including PPE requirements and safe lifting techniques. Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free shipping dock and yard area. Assist with staging materials for production departments as needed. QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS: Education: High school diploma or equivalent. License: Valid Commercial Driver’s License with an active DOT Medical Card and a clean driving record. Experience: 2+ years of experience in shipping, receiving, or warehouse operations within a metal fabrication, manufacturing, or industrial environment preferred. Proven experience operating company commercial vehicles and securing heavy or oversized industrial loads. Certifications: Forklift operator certification required (overhead crane certification is a plus). Physical Demands: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand/walk for extended periods, and work in varying temperature environments (dock/warehouse yard).
