JOB TITLE: Shipping/Receiving Assistant DEPARTMENT: Shipping/Receiving Department REPORTS TO: Shipping/Receiving Manager JOB TYPE: Full-time, non-exempt WORK LOCATION: In office, no remote work WORK SCHEDULE: 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday STARTING PAY RANGE: $17.00 - $20.00/HR (based on experience) Company Information California Manufacturing, Inc. is a family-owned, full-service machining and assembly company based in Anaheim, California. Position Summary The Shipping/Receiving Assistant plays a key role in supportingthe Shipping and Receiving Department with preparing shipments, processing material certifications, reviewing part specifications, and visual inspection of parts to ensure accurate receiving and timely deliveries. The ideal candidate will have a positive attitude as well as have strong communication and organizational skills. The candidate should be able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment, and is comfortable working both independently and in a team environment. Essential job duties and responsibilities: Assist with daily shipping, receiving, packing, and labeling duties to ensure on-time order fulfillment. Prepare, process, and maintain material certifications and shipping documentation accurately. Review part specifications and perform 100% visual inspections on all end-item deliverable products to verify quality and accuracy. Pull and restock parts and hardware in the stockroom; control the flow of product inventory moving in and out of storage. Maintain an organized, safe stockroom environment and perform data entry for inventory management. Properly package, inspect, and store overstock or excess end-item deliverable products. Support the Shipping Lead in daily tasks and participate in regular stock inventory audits. Demonstrate competency in end-item deliverable products as well as company policies and procedures. Perform other duties as assigned. Education and work experience: Minimum high school diploma or equivalent preferred Work experience: 1 to 3 years of hands-on related experience preferred Knowledge and skills: Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to prioritize tasks and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Comfortable working independently as well as part of a team. Ability to handle and inspect parts carefully while maintaining consistent shipping quality standards. Ability to follow work instructions, safety procedures, and quality requirements. Basic computer proficiency. Ability to read blueprint drawings and callouts. Physical demands: Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in a manufacturing and shop-floor environment, including but not limited to: Prolonged periods of standing and walking throughout the facility. Frequent bending, reaching, stooping, and moving around equipment and work areas. Ability to work safely around machinery, production equipment, and other shop-floor activities. Frequent use of hands and arms for handling materials, paperwork, tools, and other job-related items. Ability to lift and carry up to 10 lbs. as required for the position. Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, hearing protection, and other protective equipment as required. Ability to work in varying shop-floor conditions, including exposure to noise, dust, and changes in temperature.
