Shipping, Receiving, and Inventory Control Specialist
ConfidentialJob Overview Ann’s Garden Shop is seeking a dependable, highly organized and detail-oriented Shipping, Receiving & Inventory Control Specialist . This is an important position within our shop. We need someone who can manage the daily shipping and receiving of merchandise while also helping us establish, organize and maintain an accurate inventory-control system . We are looking for someone who takes ownership of their work, notices discrepancies, keeps things organized and understands that accurate inventory starts the moment merchandise arrives. Receiving & Inventory Receive incoming merchandise and verify shipments against packing slips, invoices and purchase orders Count merchandise and verify quantities before inventory is entered Inspect incoming merchandise for damage, shortages, overages or incorrect items Report and document receiving discrepancies Accurately enter new and received merchandise into our POS/inventory system Create and maintain SKUs, item numbers, descriptions and other product information Label and price merchandise as needed Help establish and maintain an organized inventory-control system Maintain accurate inventory quantities as merchandise is received, sold, damaged or otherwise adjusted Organize stockrooms and merchandise storage areas so inventory can be easily located and counted Perform cycle counts and physical inventory counts Research and help correct inventory discrepancies Help develop procedures that improve inventory accuracy Shipping Pick merchandise for customer orders Carefully pack merchandise to prevent damage during shipment Select appropriate boxes and packing materials Prepare and print shipping labels Process shipments through UPS, FedEx, USPS or other carriers Maintain accurate shipping records and tracking information Assist with damaged, missing or incorrect shipments Maintain shipping supplies and keep the shipping area clean and organized What We're Looking For The right person for this position will be: Extremely organized and detail-oriented Dependable and able to work independently Comfortable working with computers and learning inventory/POS software Accurate when counting, entering and labeling merchandise Able to identify problems instead of simply entering incorrect information into the system Comfortable establishing procedures and improving an existing inventory process Able to safely lift and move boxes and merchandise weighing up to 50 pounds Comfortable being on their feet and performing the physical duties associated with receiving and shipping merchandise Previous experience in inventory control, retail receiving, shipping/receiving, warehouse operations or inventory/POS systems is strongly preferred. Experience helping establish or improve an inventory-control system is especially desirable. We are particularly interested in applicants who can explain their previous experience with receiving merchandise, maintaining inventory accuracy and resolving inventory discrepancies.
