Shipping & Packaging Lead Hayleycakes & Cookies is looking for a strong, organized Shipping & Packaging Lead to run our daily shipping and packaging operation. This is a working lead position. You’ll oversee a team of typically 2–4 people, but you’ll also be working alongside them. Your job is to make sure the department hits its numbers, orders go out correctly, people stay on pace, and the team gets the day finished on time, with a smile. We move fast, especially during holidays and seasonal rushes. We need someone who likes that environment rather than somebody who gets overwhelmed by it. What the job actually looks like You’ll be responsible for the daily performance of the shipping and packaging team. That means: Organizing the team’s workload at the beginning of the day Setting clear production goals and communicating them to the team Making sure daily shipping and packaging metrics are hit Keeping employees moving and holding people accountable when they fall behind Making sure orders are packed accurately and according to our systems Monitoring quality before orders leave the building Keeping the department clean, organized, and ready for the next day Communicating problems quickly with production, customer service, and the rest of the management team Making sure people show up on time, work with urgency, and get the job finished on time We have established production standards. For example, bagging one full rack of cookies should generally take approximately 1–1.5 hours. Your job isn’t simply to tell someone the goal. Your job is to know where the team stands throughout the day and make adjustments when the numbers aren’t where they need to be. This is not a stand-around-and-supervise job. If the team is behind, you’re bagging. If boxes need to be packed, you’re packing. If something is slowing the department down, you figure out why and fix it. We’re looking for somebody who leads from the front. What we're looking for You should be comfortable: Leading a small team of 2–4 people Setting goals and holding people accountable to them Giving clear, direct feedback Working from measurable production standards Following established systems exactly Working quickly without creating mistakes Prioritizing multiple orders and deadlines Communicating well with employees and other managers Being part of a management team rather than operating independently Handling fast-paced and sometimes extremely busy seasonal workflows MUST HAVE A VALID DRIVERS LICENSE You don't need to come in and reinvent our shipping department. We already have systems. We need someone who will learn them, follow them, enforce them, and help the team execute them consistently. Most importantly, we need someone with urgency, reliability, accountability, and pride in their work. We can teach you our systems. We cannot teach someone to care whether the team hits the goal. Who tends to do well here You may be a great fit if you’ve worked in: Shipping/fulfillment Warehouse operations Food production Bakery or restaurant production Manufacturing High-volume retail fulfillment Any production environment where speed, accuracy, and daily quotas matter Previous lead or supervisory experience is strongly preferred, but we care just as much about whether you can communicate, stay organized, work hard, and get people moving in the same direction. Initial interview will be virtual, followed by a short working interview. Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 per week Benefits: Employee discount Work Location: In person
