Shipping Coordinator - Second Shift
The Duracell CompanyJob Description The Shipping Coordinator supports second-shift shipping and yard operations by processing outbound drivers under a drop-and-hook shipping process, verifying driver and load information, confirming, and dispatching shipments. Maintaining shipping documentation and updating the warehouse management system (WMS). This role also operates Material Handling Equipment to reposition pallets within a high-density, semi-automated storage rack system and to support general dock and yard material handling. The Shipping Coordinator is expected to work independently on second shift, follow all safety procedures related to Material Handling Equipment, and maintain accurate, real-time system records that support overall inventory integrity. Responsibilities Process drivers on second shift in accordance with the facility's drop-and-hook shipping process. Check in and check out drivers; verify driver identification and required shipping/load documentation. Confirm shipment accuracy and dispatch trailers in the warehouse management system (WMS). Update transactions and records in the WMS (RF scanner and desktop applications) to reflect real-time shipping activity. Conduct routine yard checks to verify trailer counts, locations, and status; update system data to reflect findings. Operate a sit-down forklift and reach truck to operate within a high-density, high-bay, semi-automated storage racking system. Perform inventory support duties, including reconciling storage locations against system records to ensure inventory accuracy. Perform pre-shift equipment inspections on all Material Handling Equipment and report defects or malfunctions immediately. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe dock, yard, and racking area in compliance with facility safety and housekeeping standards. Follow all safety protocols for Material Handling Equipment operation, including seatbelt use, speed limits, load stability, pedestrian awareness, and safe operation in high bay/racking environments. Report safety hazards, near-misses, and incidents promptly in accordance with site safety procedures. Perform other related shipping, receiving, or warehouse duties as assigned. Qualifications High school diploma or GED required. Demonstrated experience operating a sit-down forklift. Experience operating a reach truck in a high-bay warehouse environment, sit-down forklift, and dock stocker. Working knowledge of Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), including both RF scanner and desktop applications. Familiarity with automated or semi-automated high-density storage systems preferred. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel). Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and inventory reconciliation. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision during second shift. Effective verbal communication skills for driver check-in/check-out and interaction with drivers, carriers, and team members. Strong commitment to safety, including consistent use of required personal protective equipment (PPE). Ability to work in a high-bay, high-density racking environment and adapt to automated storage equipment. Physical Requirements & Work Environment Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods throughout a full shift. Ability to lift, push, or pull materials as needed to support shipping and dock operations. Ability to safely operate Material Handling Equipment (sit-down forklift, reach truck) for extended periods. Work is performed in a warehouse/distribution center and outdoor yard environment; exposure to varying temperatures, noise, and dock-level conditions should be expected. You must be available to work second shift on a regular basis, with flexibility for overtime as business needs require.
