Schedule: Open availability for 2nd shift (4:00pm-12:00am) or 3rd shift (12:00am-8:00am), with scheduling based on union seniority.

About the Role:
In the role of Shipping Container Terminal Operator, you will be essential in ensuring the safe and efficient transportation of shipping containers within our intermodal yard. You will operate specialized machinery like hostlers, cranes, top loaders, and side loaders to manage the loading, unloading, and relocation of containers as part of our daily logistics operations. Your expertise will ensure containers are handled with precision and safety, playing a key role in maintaining timely freight movement.
Key Responsibilities:
• Operate heavy machinery to load and unload shipping containers from railcars and trucks.
• Drive hostlers to position containers and chassis in the yard.
• Utilize top loaders, side loaders, and/or cranes to stack, move, and organize containers.
• Conduct equipment inspections before and after use to ensure safety compliance.
• Collaborate with yard personnel and supervisors to coordinate movements and tasks.
• Uphold a safe working environment by adhering to established protocols and standards.
Qualifications:
• Prior experience operating heavy machinery in a logistics or industrial setting is preferred.
• Strong commitment to safety and keen attention to detail.
• Must be able to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and handle physically demanding tasks.
• Willingness to have a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays.
• Basic communication skills and a team-oriented mindset.
• Able to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Capability to climb ladders and stairs on and off railcars.
• Valid driver's license.
• Must successfully complete a pre-employment background check, physical, and drug screening.
The Federal Rail Administration mandates that safety regulations for railroad operations be followed. If this position applies to you, upon receiving an offer, you will need to pass a drug screening.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience in intermodal or rail yard operations.
• Familiarity with container handling equipment such as hostlers, top loaders, or cranes.
• CDL or equipment certifications are advantageous but not necessary.
