Job Overview The Shipping Clerk is responsible for supporting daily warehouse shipping operations by preparing and verifying shipping documentation, coordinating outbound shipments, maintaining accurate inventory and shipment records, and communicating with warehouse personnel and transportation providers. This position helps ensure that customer orders are processed accurately, shipments are properly documented, and materials are dispatched safely and on schedule. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and comfortable working in a fast-paced warehouse environment. Shipping Operations Prepare, process, and verify shipping documents, including bills of lading (BOLs), packing lists, shipping labels, and delivery paperwork. Coordinate daily outbound shipments with warehouse personnel, supervisors, and transportation providers. Verify shipment information, including quantities, product descriptions, weights, and customer order details. Ensure orders are accurately prepared and documented before shipment. Assist with scheduling carrier pickups and coordinating truck arrivals and departures. Communicate shipment delays, discrepancies, and operational concerns to the appropriate personnel. Inventory and Documentation Enter and maintain accurate shipping information in the company's warehouse or ERP system. Verify shipment quantities against sales orders, pick tickets, and inventory records. Maintain organized electronic and physical shipping records. Assist with investigating shipping discrepancies, missing documentation, and inventory variances. Support inventory accuracy through proper transaction processing and documentation. Prepare routine shipping reports and assist with shipment tracking as needed. Communication and Coordination Work closely with warehouse associates, forklift operators, supervisors, and transportation personnel to support daily shipping activities. Communicate with carriers and drivers regarding pickup schedules, shipment readiness, and required documentation. Coordinate with customer service, sales, and other departments to resolve shipment-related questions. Provide timely updates regarding shipment status and delivery-related issues. Safety and Compliance Follow company safety policies and established warehouse procedures. Ensure shipping documentation is completed accurately and in accordance with applicable requirements. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe administrative work area. Report unsafe conditions, shipping discrepancies, and operational concerns to management. Support continuous improvement initiatives related to shipping accuracy, efficiency, and warehouse operations. Minimum Qualifications Education and Experience High school diploma or GED required. Previous experience in shipping, receiving, warehouse administration, logistics, or a related position preferred. Experience preparing bills of lading and other shipping documentation preferred. Experience working in a manufacturing, distribution, or warehouse environment preferred. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and data entry. Familiarity with ERP or warehouse management systems; SAP experience is a plus. Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Good organizational and time-management skills. Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
