The Opportunity Every instrument we calibrate, repair, sell, or rent goes through our shipping department before it reaches a customer. As a Shipping Clerk, you'll make sure it arrives safely, on time, and with the right paperwork. This is a hands-on job in a busy, high-volume warehouse. You'll receive incoming customer equipment and freight, pack and palletize outgoing orders, and work with UPS, FedEx, and freight carriers. You'll also check the details that prevent shipping mistakes, like addresses, service levels, and special customer requests. You'll work with six departments every day, including Sales, Quality Assurance, Rental, and Accounts Receivable, so you'll learn quickly how the whole business runs. You'll do well here if you like staying busy, take pride in getting details right, and can switch tasks when priorities change during the day. Shipping experience helps, but we'll train the right person on our systems and processes. Key Responsibilities & Outcomes Receive and log incoming shipments. This includes customer equipment, rental returns, factory returns, and purchased items. You'll tag and track each one and send it to the right place. Pack and box equipment for sales, work, and rental orders, so items arrive undamaged whether they're going across town or offshore. Palletize heavy and oversized equipment, and load and unload freight trucks, by hand or with a forklift. Check purchase orders, invoices, and customer Special Request forms against each package to confirm the address, service level, billing method, and contents. Schedule carrier pickups and drop-offs, and give accurate freight quotes (cost and transit time) for domestic and international shipments. Follow the rules for international and hazmat shipments. This includes Schedule B numbers, AES/ITN filings, ITAR, export licenses, and dangerous goods such as lithium batteries and gases. Handle damaged or missing shipments by documenting the problem, contacting the customer, and filing carrier claims. Keep the shipping area organized and stocked. You'll reorder packaging supplies and help with runner duties when needed. What You Bring Required High school diploma or equivalent Strong attention to detail and the ability to handle a high volume of paperwork accurately Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office) and a willingness to learn several shipping and company software systems Ability to frequently lift up to 50 lbs, stand and walk for long periods, and work inside and outside the warehouse in all weather A dependable, flexible work style: punctual, self-motivated, calm under pressure, and willing to ask for help Preferred Warehouse shipping, receiving, or customer service experience, ideally with UPS WorldShip, FedEx Ship Manager, or motor freight shipping Forklift experience (you'll use a forklift regularly in this role) Why JM Test Systems?
