Shipping Clerk

Duties and Responsibilities · Prepare shipments by packaging and marking items according to Benning standard packaging guidelines &/or customer specific requirements (boxes/other small packages, crates, standard pallets, oversized pallets, export packing) · Compare physical items to documents via identifying marks to verify part numbers, quantities, descriptions match · Maintains ERP orders as items ship out, records serial numbers, dispatch numbers, etc. · Perform shipping steps from handover from production to product leaving Benning facility – record weights/dims, determine appropriate shipping method based on instructions provided, schedule transportation with carriers or customers, scan and save proper shipping paperwork in Benning network directory · Utilize tools as needed for performing tasks – excel, various portals, ERP system, email, phone, network drives · Submit proper post-shipment paperwork to accounting department in timely manner, ensure all required information and documentation is included and accurate · Utilizes forklift, manual or electric hand trucks, and other equipment as needed to move, load, or hoist equipment · Provides shipping quotes to Benning team members as needed · Open and manage freight claims, provide all required documentation for carrier reimbursement · Maintains shipping log with standard item weights & dimensions · Update and maintain ERP with item codes (HTS, ECN, COO), unit weights · Maintains inventory of shipping materials and supplies · Cross train to assist and back up Receiving and Material Handling: o Unpacks and examines incoming shipments, rejects damaged items, records shortages, and corresponds with shipper to rectify damages and shortages o Routes incoming items to appropriate departments Assists Receiving with stocking of new inventory Maintains clean and neat stocking areas. Removes defective or incorrect materials using the appropriate QMS procedures.
