Shipping Clerk

Organization: The Royal Astronomical Society of Canada (RASC) Location: College and Bathurst, downtown Toronto Position Type: Temporary Part-Time Independent Contractor Hours: 20 hours per week Compensation: $19.00 / hour. An invoice for all hours worked must be submitted by the independent contractor. Duration: November 1-30, 2026 [subject to extension as may be agreed to in writing by the RASC and the Shipping clerk]. About The Royal Astronomical Society of Canada The mission of The Royal Astronomical Society of Canada (RASC) is to enhance the understanding of and inspire curiosity about the Universe through public outreach, education, and support for astronomical research. Position Overview We are seeking a proactive, detail-oriented, and dependable Shipping Clerk to join our small team on a temporary independent contractor basis for November 2026. In this role, you will be hands-on in ensuring that our customer orders are processed and shipped accurately and efficiently. Key Responsibilities Outbound Processing: Efficiently pick, package, and label customer orders for secure shipment. Inventory and Workspace Maintenance: Maintain a clean, tidy, and organized processing area and stockroom. Record Keeping: Keep accurate and up-to-date logs of completed shipments and tracking statuses. Physical Demands To successfully perform the duties of this role, candidates must be comfortable with regular physical activity, including: Lifting up to 40 lbs Standing, walking, and sitting for periods throughout the shift Making repetitive motions Requirements and Qualifications Safety Footwear: Must possess and wear Grade 1 (Green Triangle) CSA- approved safety footwear with protective toecaps. Detail-Oriented: A careful and organized approach to order fulfillment and inventory tracking. Team Player: Able to work collaboratively within a small, dynamic team environment.
