Progressive Steel TreatingJob Title: Shipping Clerk / Logistics Specialist Job Summary: We are seeking a detail-oriented and self-motivated Shipping Clerk to manage day-to-day shipping, receiving, and order processing operations within our heat-treating facility. This hybrid role combines office administrative duties with hands-on shop floor coordination. You will oversee parcel shipping (UPS/FedEx), freight coordination, customer order processing, bill of lading (BOL) generation, and daily local deliveries. Key Responsibilities: Outbound Parcel & Freight Logistics: Prepare, package, and process daily outbound shipments using UPS WorldShip , FedEx Ship Manager , and LTL freight software. Generate accurate shipping labels and schedule carrier pickups. Receiving & Material Handling: Carefully receive incoming customer parts, cross-reference documentation for accuracy, inspect components for shipping damage, and stage materials in the shop using a forklift or material handling equipment. Local Route Delivery: Execute timely and safe daily local deliveries and pickups of parts and customer orders using company vehicles. Cross-Functional Communication: Collaborate effectively with shop floor personnel, heat-treat technicians, management, customer service teams, and freight vendors to maintain seamless production timelines and resolve shipping inquiries. Inventory & Order Tracking: Maintain accurate shipping logs, track open work orders, and verify part quantities prior to dispatch. Qualifications & Skills: Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required. Technical & Computer Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Word) and shipping software; familiarity with ERP/MRP manufacturing systems or computerized invoicing systems is a plus. Driving Requirements: Must possess a valid Driver’s License with a clean driving record for daily local transport. Equipment Handling: Experience or willingness to operate standard office equipment and industrial equipment (e.g., forklifts, pallet jacks) in a shop environment. Attributes: High self-initiative, exceptional organizational skills, strong attention to detail, and a consistent track record of excellent attendance and punctuality. Physical & Environmental Requirements: Ability to split time between a quiet office setting and an active industrial manufacturing floor (exposure to heat-treating machinery, forklifts, and metal materials). Ability to lift, carry, or move packages and materials up to 50 lbs as required.
