Shipping and Receiving Supervisor

You should be comfortable jumping in when needed, keeping the shipping and receiving team organized, and making sure materials and finished products get where they need to go without disrupting production. All shipping and receiving operations are domestic U.S. based; international shipping experience is not required. Work Hours: Monday-Friday 5:30am-3:00pm with every other Friday off Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Shipping & Receiving Supervisor to oversee the day-to-day shipping and receiving operations within a fast-paced fabrication and manufacturing environment. This role will lead the flow of raw materials, fabricated components, finished products, and other materials throughout the facility while ensuring orders are shipped accurately, safely, and on schedule. Manage a team of 20 employees. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader who understands manufacturing environments, can effectively coordinate with production teams, and is comfortable managing people, materials, and priorities in a busy shop setting. Key Responsibilities • Supervise daily shipping and receiving activities, including loading, unloading, staging, and material movement • Lead and coordinate shipping and receiving personnel to ensure daily priorities are completed efficiently • Schedule and coordinate outbound shipments with customers, carriers, and internal production teams • Verify incoming materials against purchase orders, packing slips, and receiving documentation • Inspect shipments for quantity, accuracy, and visible damage • Ensure finished products are properly packaged, labeled, staged, and prepared for shipment • Coordinate with production to ensure completed jobs are ready for shipment on schedule • Maintain accurate shipping and receiving records and documentation • Track incoming materials and outbound orders to ensure timely delivery and pickup • Work with carriers to schedule pickups and resolve shipping or delivery issues • Maintain organized shipping, receiving, and staging areas • Ensure proper handling and storage of raw materials, fabricated parts, and finished goods • Operate or oversee the use of forklifts, pallet jacks, cranes, and other material- handling equipment as applicable • Ensure all shipping and receiving activities are performed safely and in accordance with company procedures • Monitor inventory movement and communicate material discrepancies to purchasing, production, and management • Identify opportunities to improve shipping, receiving, material flow, and overall shop efficiency • Train, coach, and hold shipping and receiving employees accountable for performance and safety • Assist with other warehouse, material handling, and manufacturing-related responsibilities as needed Required Qualifications • 2+ years of experience in shipping, receiving, warehouse, or material handling within a manufacturing environment • Previous supervisory or lead experience preferred • Experience working in a fabrication, metalworking, or industrial manufacturing environment preferred • Strong understanding of shipping, receiving, material handling, and inventory processes • Experience coordinating freight pickups and deliveries • Ability to read and understand purchase orders, packing slips, work orders, and shipping documentation • Forklift experience required; additional material-handling equipment experience is a plus • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills • Ability to prioritize multiple shipments and production deadlines • Comfortable working in a hands-on manufacturing environment • Strong communication and leadership skills • Basic computer skills and ability to learn company ERP or shipping systems • Ability to safely lift, move, and handle materials as required by the position
