Shipping & Receiving / Shop Support Specialist Miller Industrial Manufacturing Company Overview Miller Industrial Manufacturing provides fabrication, machining, waterjet cutting, and assembly services for industrial customers. We take pride in quality workmanship, reliable service, and a safe, productive workplace. Job Overview We are seeking a dependable, self-motivated individual to coordinate shipping and receiving, maintain accurate inventory records, and assist with general shop labor and material handling. This hands-on position requires someone who takes initiative, thinks on their feet, uses sound judgment, and adjusts to changing priorities. The ideal candidate notices what needs to be done and follows through with minimal supervision. Key Responsibilities Receive, inspect, and verify incoming materials against purchase orders and packing slips; promptly report shortages, damage, or discrepancies. Accurately record receipts, shipments, inventory movements, and job-related material transactions in the company’s ERP system. Label, organize, and store materials so they can be readily located and identified by job. Prepare outgoing shipments, including packaging, labeling, packing slips, and coordination with carriers. Safely load, unload, and move materials using forklifts, pallet jacks, and other approved equipment, following required training and authorization. Stage and deliver materials, parts, and supplies to support machining, fabrication, and assembly schedules. Assist with general shop labor, including organizing work areas, handling parts, preparing items for shipment, and supporting shop personnel as needed. Conduct inventory counts and help investigate discrepancies between physical stock and system records. Keep shipping, receiving, and storage areas clean, orderly, and safe. Communicate with project managers, purchasing, and shop supervisors to keep materials moving and address problems promptly. Identify practical ways to improve material flow, reduce unnecessary handling, and support shop productivity. Qualifications Experience in shipping and receiving, inventory control, material handling, or a manufacturing environment preferred. Familiarity with ERP or inventory management programs; experience with Global Shop Solutions is a plus. Comfortable using computers, entering accurate information, and learning new software. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and basic math skills. Ability to read purchase orders, packing slips, shipping documents, and work instructions. Forklift and pallet jack experience preferred. Willingness and ability to perform general shop labor and safely handle materials using appropriate equipment and assistance. Dependable attendance, clear communication, and a strong commitment to workplace safety. What We Value We are looking for someone who brings initiative, common sense, and a strong work ethic —a person who asks questions when needed, solves routine problems, takes ownership of their work, and willingly helps the team.
