Shipping and Receiving Specialist

Job Summary We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Shipping and Receiving Specialist to join our dynamic logistics team. In this vital role, you will oversee the accurate and efficient handling of inbound and outbound shipments, ensuring seamless warehouse operations. Your expertise will support inventory management, order fulfillment, and shipping logistics, contributing to the overall success of our distribution processes. Responsibilities Coordinate the receipt and inspection of incoming shipments, verifying quantities and conditions against purchase orders using warehouse management systems and RFID scanners. Prepare outgoing shipments by selecting, packing, labeling, and documenting orders with attention to detail and accuracy. Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and order pickers safely to load and unload trucks, move inventory within the warehouse, and facilitate stock organization. Utilize inventory management software and ERP systems such as AS400 or similar platforms to update stock levels, process data entries, and maintain accurate records. Ensure compliance with trade regulations and international trade standards during shipping processes. Conduct regular inventory counts, reconcile discrepancies, and manage stock replenishment using inventory management tools. Collaborate with customer service teams to resolve shipping or receiving issues promptly while maintaining positive communication with carriers and vendors. Qualifications Proven experience in warehouse operations, shipping & receiving, or logistics roles with familiarity in warehouse distribution processes. Strong knowledge of inventory management software, ERP systems (such as AS400), and MRP systems for order processing. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications for documentation and reporting purposes. Ability to perform basic math calculations accurately for order quantities, weights, measurements, and documentation. Valid forklift certification or experience operating forklifts safely; additional certifications such as RF scanner operation or pallet jack training are a plus. Excellent organizational skills with a focus on accuracy in data entry, stocking procedures, and order picking & packing. Customer service mindset with effective communication skills to coordinate with team members, carriers, and vendors. Knowledge of shipping logistics including trade compliance and international trade regulations is advantageous.
