ging all shipping and receiving operations, encompassing inbound and outbound truck and railcar functions, as well as supporting daily plant operations. Responsibilities
• Execute all job functions under general supervision, facilitating shipping and receiving via truck and rail, supervising grading monitoring equipment, and identifying improvement areas.
• Maintain a safe and organized work environment while adhering to all procedures, policies, rules, and regulations.
• Complete shipping documentation accurately using SAP and yard tracking software.
• Operate locomotives safely, both independently from the ground using remote control units and from the cab.
• Conduct railroad conductor duties, including sorting railcars, coupling/uncoupling railcars, and aligning switch points to the appropriate tracks safely.
• Utilize skid loaders, pay loaders, forklifts, and lifts to efficiently complete assigned tasks.
• Perform periodic inspections of railcars and trucks to ensure safety compliance, creating corrective actions as necessary.
• Assist with the training of new employees, fostering a knowledgeable workforce.
• Conduct preventative maintenance on department equipment and support maintenance staff as needed.
• Work extended hours during scheduled plant outages, collaborating with maintenance teams and contractors to accomplish tasks safely.
• Adhere to all plant and food safety regulations and procedures.
• Promote a strong safety culture by identifying and communicating workplace hazards and taking initiative to correct unsafe actions or conditions.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications (required)
• At least 1 year of experience in Operations and/or Production Operations.
• Must meet minimum age requirements.
Additional Qualifications
• Experience with railcar, rail yard management, or locomotive/track mobile preferred.
• Forklift certification or the ability to obtain it.
• Basic math skills for inventory measurements.
• Availability to work extended hours during peak seasons to meet business needs.
• Computer proficiency to accurately enter railcar data and update yard checks in logistics management software.
Physical Requirements
• Ability to work independently and in confined spaces and hazardous environments.
• Ability to stand, walk, and climb ladders for extended periods, working at heights up to 120 ft.
• Capacity to lift and carry materials weighing up to 50 lbs.
• Willingness to wear necessary protective equipment, including respirators, hard hats, and hearing protection.
• Ability to use automated and manual tools and equipment.
• Capability to shovel, sweep, load, unload, lift, and carry materials frequently.
• Ability to work in noisy, dusty, and various weather conditions.
