Shipping and Receiving Coordinator - Commercial Glass & Glazing

Job Overview Layne Glass is seeking a dependable and organized Shipping & Receiving Coordinator to support our fabrication and field operations. This position is responsible for receiving and verifying incoming freight, organizing and tracking project materials, maintaining job storage areas, staging materials for field crews, and preparing outbound deliveries. The ideal candidate is hands-on, detail-oriented, and able to work independently with limited direction. We are looking for someone who can keep materials organized, catch discrepancies before they become problems, communicate clearly with shop and field teams, and help keep material flow moving efficiently throughout the facility. Key Responsibilities Unload and receive incoming freight and material deliveries. Verify materials against packing slips for quantities, descriptions, job information, and visible condition. Identify and communicate shortages, overages, damage, or incorrect shipments. Organize and store aluminum extrusions, hardware, glass, and other project materials. Maintain job cages, project storage areas, and glass L-buck areas throughout the life of each project. Stage materials for Field Leads, Superintendents, deliveries, pickups, and call-in orders. Prepare and preload outbound deliveries for the following workday. Assist Field Technicians with morning loading as needed. Support accurate material records within the Company’s ERP/material tracking system. Safely operate forklifts, pallet jacks, carts, and other material-handling equipment when trained and authorized. Maintain clean, safe, and organized receiving, staging, loading, and storage areas. Assist with basic fabrication, larger deliveries, small pickups, and general shop or facility needs when primary responsibilities are complete. Qualifications Previous experience in shipping, receiving, warehouse operations, material handling, manufacturing, construction, or a similar environment preferred. Forklift and pallet jack experience preferred. Experience handling glass, aluminum, fabricated products, or construction materials is a plus. Basic computer skills and ability to learn ERP, inventory, and job-tracking systems. Ability to accurately read and verify packing slips, quantities, and material information. Strong organization, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills. Ability to recognize issues and take appropriate action without constant supervision. Strong communication and teamwork skills. Reliable attendance and punctuality. Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record for employees assigned driving responsibilities.
