Shipping and Packaging Specialist

Jarvis Cutting Tools is looking for a detail-oriented and reliable Shipping and Packing Associate to prepare, package, and process customer orders. You will inspect products for damage, select the right packaging materials, ensure order accuracy, and generate shipping labels. We are a 125-year-old, 5th generation family business who values the skills and insights of our workforce. Founded in 1901, it is managed and owned by the fourth and fifth generations of the Jarvis family. We sell directly to our users and have customers throughout North America, Europe, Asia, and South America. Key Responsibilities Order Preparation: Read order slips, pick lists, or digital scanner prompts to select the correct items from inventory. Quality Control: Inspect products for damage, defects, or missing pieces before packaging. Packing: Choose appropriate boxes, envelopes, bubble wrap, or dunnage to safely secure items and prevent transit damage. Labeling & Documentation: Apply accurate shipping labels, record tracking info, and generate packing slips or bills of lading. Organization & Safety: Maintain a clean, hazard-free packing station, follow OSHA safety rules, and keep track of packing supply stock. Loading & Staging: Move packed boxes to designated shipping zones, build pallets, or assist with carrier loading Qualifications & Skills Education: High school diploma or GED preferred. Physical Stamina: Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 40 lbs. unassisted throughout the shift. Technical Skills: Basic computer proficiency and experience using handheld barcode scanners or warehouse management systems (WMS). Attention to Detail: High accuracy rate to minimize mispacks, returns, and shipping errors. Reliability: Punctuality and ability to work well in a fast-paced team environment Jarvis Cutting Tools Offers: Starting Wage Range $20-$22/hr.
