Shipper/Receiver

Schramm’s Woodcraft is a commercial millwork manufacturer seeking a reliable, organized Shipper/Receiver to coordinate incoming materials, prepare finished products for shipment, and assist with deliveries to project sites. This is a hands-on role requiring attention to detail and care when handling finished cabinetry, countertops, doors, and custom millwork. You will work closely with our shop and project teams to ensure materials and finished products arrive complete, protected, and on schedule. Key Responsibilities Shipping and delivery preparation Coordinate upcoming shipments and deliveries with the Shop Foreman and Operations Manager. Check outgoing products against packing lists and project requirements, confirming quantities, labels, and visible condition. Identify missing items, damage, or outstanding work before products are loaded. Package, wrap, and protect finished millwork to prevent damage during handling and transportation. Organize and label shipments by project, building, floor, or room. Ensure required hardware, accessories, and loose components accompany each shipment. Prepare packing slips and maintain shipping records, including photos where required. Receiving and material organization Receive deliveries and verify quantities and materials against purchase orders and packing slips. Inspect incoming goods for visible damage or discrepancies and promptly report concerns. Label and store materials in designated locations, keeping project-specific items organized. Forward receiving paperwork to the office and notify the appropriate team members when materials arrive. Keep receiving areas, storage locations, and loading zones clean, safe, and accessible. Delivery assistance Assist with loading, securing, transporting, and unloading cabinetry, countertops, doors, and other millwork. Protect finished products, vehicles, and surrounding property throughout deliveries. Help confirm site access, unloading locations, and delivery instructions before departure. Place products in designated areas and obtain delivery confirmation when required. Communicate shortages, damage, access issues, or delivery delays promptly. Represent Schramm’s professionally when interacting with customers, site personnel, and installers. Drive company vehicles when assigned, provided the required licensing and company authorization are in place. General shop support Assist with moving materials and finished products throughout the shop. Support basic inventory counts and monitor shipping and packaging supplies. Assist with general shop labour, housekeeping, and material preparation as required. Use forklifts, pallet jacks, and other handling equipment only when trained and authorized. Follow company safety procedures and use required personal protective equipment. Qualifications Previous shipping, receiving, warehouse, or delivery experience is an asset. Experience handling cabinetry, millwork, furniture, or other finished products is preferred. Strong organizational skills and attention to quantities, labels, paperwork, and product condition. Ability to read packing slips, purchase orders, and delivery instructions. Ability to safely perform physical work, including lifting and carrying bulky items using team lifts and handling equipment as needed. Clear communication skills, dependable attendance, and the ability to work independently and with a team. Forklift training or certification is an asset. A valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record are required. Working Conditions Work takes place in a manufacturing shop, loading areas, company vehicles, and active construction sites. The role involves standing, walking, bending, lifting, and working outdoors during loading and deliveries. Start times and daily tasks may vary with production needs and delivery schedules.
