Shift Senior Dispatcher

Job Overview We are seeking an energetic and detail-oriented Shift Senior Dispatcher to coordinate freight operations during assigned shifts. In this pivotal role, you will manage transportation workflows, communicate effectively with drivers and clients, and ensure seamless shipping and receiving processes. Your proactive approach will help optimize our supply chain efficiency and uphold our commitment to exceptional service. Job Responsibilities Supervise and guide dispatchers, providing real-time support and ongoing performance evaluations. Operates in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment coordinating between drivers, customers, and customs. Handle escalated issues (e.g., severe weather delays, equipment breakdowns, emergencies, or major client complaints) with minimal supervision. Utilize GPS tracking systems to route personnel, manage workloads, and maximize efficiency. Review the shift log, compile reports, and coordinate seamless transitions with the morning management team. Monitor driver Hours of Service (HOS) to ensure strict compliance with safety and legal requirements. Key Requirements Minimum 3 years of experience in dispatch, logistics, transportation, or a related field; experience within the automotive transportation industry is strongly preferred. Strong proficiency with Transportation Management Systems (TMS) ; experience with Fleet Manager is preferred. Working knowledge of GPS tracking, routing, fleet monitoring systems, and Microsoft Office Suite . Experience working in an EDI-based transportation environment . Strong leadership, multitasking, problem-solving, and crisis-management skills, with the ability to make sound decisions under pressure. Demonstrated ability to supervise and lead a dispatch team while working independently with minimal supervision. Excellent communication, organizational, and time-management skills. Strong understanding of transportation operations, driver compliance, and HOS requirements. Must be flexible and available to work day shifts, including Sunday through Thursday or similar off-hour blocks.
