Shift Manager

Job Description Firebirds Wood Fired Grill is seeking a motivated, dependable, and customer-focused Shift Manager to support daily restaurant operations and ensure exceptional food quality, efficient service, and guest satisfaction. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, excellent communication abilities, and a passion for hospitality and team development. The Shift Manager will oversee restaurant activities during assigned shifts, supervise front-of-house employees, coordinate with kitchen staff, and ensure operational procedures are followed consistently. This role requires a hands-on leader who can motivate employees, resolve guest concerns, manage competing priorities, and maintain a welcoming dining environment during busy service periods. Key Responsibilities Oversee daily restaurant activities during assigned shifts. Supervise servers, hosts, bartenders, and other restaurant team members. Coordinate with kitchen staff to ensure accurate orders and timely food preparation. Ensure guests receive friendly, attentive, and professional service. Address guest questions, complaints, and special requests promptly. Assign staff duties and coordinate shift responsibilities. Monitor employee performance and provide guidance when needed. Assist with employee training, onboarding, and development. Ensure food quality, presentation, and service standards are consistently maintained. Monitor dining-room cleanliness, organization, and overall presentation. Ensure compliance with food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety procedures. Support responsible alcohol service in accordance with applicable regulations. Assist with inventory checks, stock replenishment, and supply management. Help minimize food waste and support cost-control procedures. Monitor labor needs and help maintain appropriate staffing levels. Oversee opening, closing, and shift-handover procedures. Ensure accurate point-of-sale transactions and proper cash-handling practices. Respond to operational issues and resolve service disruptions efficiently. Communicate shift updates and important concerns to restaurant management. Promote teamwork, accountability, and a positive work environment. Qualifications and Skills Previous experience in restaurant operations, hospitality supervision, or team leadership. Strong leadership and shift-coordination abilities. Excellent communication and customer service skills. Understanding of restaurant service standards and kitchen coordination. Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and workplace procedures. Familiarity with point-of-sale systems and payment processing. Basic understanding of inventory management and cost control. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Strong problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Reliable, professional, and willing to lead by example. Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and other scheduled shifts. Relevant food safety or alcohol service certification where required.
