Service writer/ Parts counter
Hardy's Equipment Sales and Services, LLCJob Summary We are seeking a customer-focused Service Writer/Parts Counter Associate to join our tractor and outdoor power equipment dealership. This position will work closely with customers, technicians, and vendors to coordinate equipment repairs, service, parts sales, inventory, warranty claims, and ordering. The ideal candidate has strong mechanical knowledge, excellent customer service skills, and experience with tractors, mowers, small engines, or similar equipment. Responsibilities Greet customers, identify equipment concerns, and write accurate service orders and repair estimates. Communicate customer concerns and repair requirements clearly with technicians. Prepare estimates for maintenance and repairs including engines, belts, blades, tires, hydraulics, transmissions, electrical systems, and mower decks. Recommend needed maintenance, repairs, and parts based on customer needs. Assist customers and technicians with parts identification and sales using model numbers, serial numbers, diagrams, and parts catalogs. Order parts from manufacturers and vendors and track backorders and special orders. Receive, verify, label, and properly stock incoming parts. Maintain accurate parts inventory and perform cycle counts and periodic physical inventories. Monitor inventory levels and reorder commonly used parts as needed. Maintain organized parts storage and assist with inventory discrepancies, returns, and obsolete inventory. Process and manage manufacturer warranty claims, including required documentation, parts, labor, and claim submission. Coordinate warranty repairs with technicians, parts suppliers, and manufacturers. Process parts and service transactions accurately. Keep customers informed regarding repair status, parts availability, warranty coverage, costs, and completion times. Maintain accurate service, parts, customer, inventory, and warranty records. Qualifications Previous experience in a tractor, agricultural equipment, lawn and garden, outdoor power equipment automotive, or small-engine dealership preferred. Strong mechanical and parts knowledge. Experience with parts identification, ordering, and inventory management. Experience processing warranty claims is preferred. Excellent customer service and communication skills. Ability to explain technical information clearly to customers. Familiarity with dealership management, parts lookup, warranty, or service software preferred. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Valid driver's license with a clean driving record. About the Position This is a hands-on dealership position combining customer service, service writing, parts sales, inventory management, parts ordering, and warranty administration . The successful candidate will help keep customers and technicians supplied with the right parts and services while maintaining an organized and efficient operation.
