Service Writer – Heavy Truck & Trailer Repair

Build the best. Then keep making it better. Western Trailers is hiring a Service Writer for our Spokane service department. If you understand heavy trailer repairs, enjoy helping customers, and can keep multiple repair orders moving, we’d like to hear from you. You’ll serve as the main point of contact between customers and our service team, coordinating repairs from the initial request through the final invoice. What you’ll do Greet customers, identify service needs, schedule appointments, and coordinate repair estimates. Create, monitor, and close repair orders with clear, accurate instructions for the shop. Work with the Shop Foreman, Service Manager, and Parts Department to keep repairs on schedule. Update customers on repair progress, costs, and completion times, and obtain documented approval for changes. Review labor and parts charges and reconcile repair orders with final invoices. Collect payments, obtain customer purchase order numbers, and coordinate account approvals. Recommend needed repairs, parts, and accessories, and follow up with customers. Help resolve customer concerns professionally and maintain strong customer relationships. Reconcile technician time with repair orders and resolve discrepancies before payroll submission. Maintain service records, warranty information, technical bulletins, and department paperwork. Support the service team with administrative tasks and injury-reporting procedures. What we’re looking for High school diploma or equivalent. Working knowledge of heavy trailer repair methods. Strong communication and customer service skills. Ability to read and understand repair instructions and service information. Strong organization, attention to detail, and follow-through. Ability to lift up to 75 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation. Preferred qualifications Experience in a truck or trailer dealership or repair shop. Previous service writer, service advisor, or repair-order experience. Sales experience.
