Septic Service Technician / CDL Tanker Driver Full-Time | CDL with Tanker Endorsement Required | Year-Round Work We are looking for a dependable, hardworking Septic Service Technician / CDL Tanker Driver to join our team. This is a hands-on field position responsible for operating a septic pump truck and completing residential and commercial septic pumping services. The technician will be responsible for the entire service process, including locating septic tanks, digging and exposing tank lids, pumping tanks, inspecting the immediate system condition, properly replacing lids and backfilling the work area, and communicating with customers. A valid CDL with the appropriate tanker endorsement is required for this position. Responsibilities Safely operate a septic pump truck to and from customer locations Perform residential and commercial septic tank pumping services Locate septic tanks and determine tank/lid locations when they are not readily accessible Dig and expose septic tank lids as necessary to complete pumping services Safely open septic tanks and prepare them for pumping Operate pumping hoses, vacuum equipment, and other septic service equipment Completely pump septic tanks and perform related services within the scope of the job Observe tank conditions and identify visible issues or concerns that may require additional service Replace tank lids securely after service Backfill excavated areas and leave the customer’s property as clean and orderly as reasonably possible Properly transport and dispose of septage in accordance with applicable requirements Complete service paperwork and accurately document work performed Communicate professionally with homeowners, businesses, and property managers Explain service findings and notify customers of concerns requiring additional attention Maintain the septic truck, hoses, tools, and equipment in clean and safe operating condition Perform routine vehicle and equipment inspections Communicate with office staff regarding scheduling, job status, disposal, equipment issues, and additional work needed Follow all company safety procedures and applicable DOT and environmental requirements Required Qualifications Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Tanker endorsement required Acceptable driving record Ability to safely operate a commercial septic/vacuum truck Ability and willingness to perform physically demanding outdoor work Ability to locate, dig, and uncover septic tank lids Comfortable working around septic systems and wastewater Ability to safely handle hoses, tools, pumps, and related equipment Dependable, punctual, and able to work independently Strong attention to safety and proper operating procedures Professional attitude and ability to communicate appropriately with customers Previous septic pumping or septic system experience is strongly preferred. However, candidates with the required CDL/tanker qualifications and relevant commercial driving, excavation, wastewater, plumbing, or similar field-service experience may also be considered. Physical Requirements This is an active, hands-on field position. Applicants must be able to: Perform digging and other manual labor throughout the workday Lift and maneuver heavy hoses, tools, equipment, and septic tank lids Frequently bend, kneel, crouch, pull, push, and lift Work outdoors in varying weather conditions Work around wastewater, septic tanks, mud, dirt, and other conditions associated with septic service Safely enter and exit a commercial truck repeatedly throughout the workday What We’re Looking For We are looking for someone who understands that septic pumping involves much more than driving the truck.
