Location: Waltham, MA 02451-Hybrid Contract: 12 Months of Contract Job Description Senior Project Manager, Materials Strategy & Transformation : We are seeking a Senior Project Manager, Materials Strategy & Transformation, to support enterprise-wide materials management transformation for a large electric utility environment. This role is focused on developing and implementing strategic materials management programs that improve visibility, governance, forecasting, supplier performance, risk management, and long-term materials planning. The position will work to establish sustainable business processes and support adoption of new materials management capabilities. The work includes materials management strategy, facility planning, benchmarking, material risk governance, emergency spares strategy, preferred supplier strategy, and portfolio execution. The successful candidate will need strong project management, analytical, and stakeholder leadership skills, along with experience in utility operations, supply chain, engineering, or asset management. Scope of the role This role supports enterprise materials transformation with direct exposure to executive leadership and strategic planning. The position contributes to cross-functional programs spanning Supply Chain, Engineering, Finance, and Information Technology. The work includes long-term materials strategy, governance design, and implementation planning across utility operations. The role offers responsibility for high-impact initiatives tied to reliability, resilience, and capital project delivery. The position may include functional leadership of analysts, coordinators, consultants, and external strategic partners. Roles and Responsibilities Manage multiple strategic initiatives from concept through implementation, including business cases, timelines, budgets, and resource plans. Build alignment across executive leadership and cross-functional teams through workshops, planning sessions, and change management activities. Lead development and implementation of an end-to-end materials management playbook covering governance, controls, roles, and performance metrics. Create a multi-year Material Facilities Strategy supporting capital investment plans, operational growth, and facility optimization. Lead benchmarking studies across peer electric and gas utility organizations and convert findings into implementation roadmaps. Lead development of a comprehensive Emergency Spares Strategy to support storm response, contingency planning, and operational resilience. Develop and implement a Preferred Supplier Strategy aligned with enterprise procurement objectives and supplier performance management. Required Qualifications You bring 7-10 years of experience in utility operations, materials management, supply chain, engineering, project management, or asset management. You demonstrate strong project and program management capabilities across multiple strategic workstreams. You can develop executive presentations, business cases, strategic plans, and senior leadership updates with clarity. You have strong analytical, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills for enterprise-level collaboration. You have familiarity with inventory management, warehousing, sourcing, procurement, or supply chain planning. You have knowledge of utility capital planning and asset management processes in electric and/or gas utility operations. You are familiar with SAP, Ariba, Power BI, PowerPlan, or similar enterprise systems. You hold or have equivalent professional certifications such as PMP, Lean Six Sigma, APICS, or ISM.
