Senior Project Manager, Capital Markets
TerrionTerrion, Inc. is an advanced carbon materials company building a fully domestic production pathway for synthetic graphite and graphene. Our patent-pending Carbonyx™ process converts purchased Pennsylvania anthracite into three co-produced materials, synthetic graphite powder, high-density fine-grain graphite blocks, and graphene, using a single integrated process rather than three separate supply chains. Graphite is a designated critical material. The United States imports the overwhelming majority of the synthetic graphite it consumes, and domestic capacity is limited. Terrion exists to change that. We are venture-backed and part of the IBX family of companies. Terrion operates an active research and development laboratory in Gaithersburg, Maryland, is building out a pilot production facility near Frederick, and will build commercial manufacturing facilities at sites now being selected. We are executing federally funded programs, including work under an Other Transaction Agreement (OTA), to build production capability and deliver against government milestones. Terrion is at the transition point between demonstrated science and manufactured product. That transition is a delivery problem, not a research problem. This role exists to execute it, first at the pilot plant and then at commercial scale. The Opportunity The Senior Project Manager, Capital Projects, is Terrion's on-site owner of capital project delivery. The role first leads the build-out of the pilot production facility near Frederick, from construction and equipment installation through commissioning and operational readiness, against schedules and milestones set by Terrion's federally funded programs. As Terrion moves to commercial scale, the role then leads delivery of the first commercial plant, which is expected to be a substantially larger facility at a site still being selected. This is a hands-on role, not a supervisory layer above a controls staff. The Senior Project Manager personally builds and maintains the project schedule, cost baseline, and risk register using tools such as Microsoft Project, Primavera P6, or Excel, and is Terrion's day-to-day point of accountability for the construction, engineering, and vendor partners on each project. Technical design and engineering decisions sit with the Director of Engineering and Terrion's technical leads. This role owns the schedule, budget, coordination, and delivery around them. What You Will Do Pilot Facility Build-Out and Commissioning Lead the build-out of the pilot production facility near Frederick, serving as Terrion's on-site project lead from construction through equipment installation, commissioning, and turnover to operations Hold Terrion's construction project manager, general contractor, architects, outside engineering firm, and trade contractors accountable to committed dates, including recovery planning when schedules slip Coordinate permitting, occupancy, and utility readiness with local authorities, and work with the environmental, safety, and health lead to keep the site compliant with state and local requirements Drive long-lead capital equipment procurement to schedule, tracking vendors, purchase orders, lead times, delivery, installation sequencing, and warranty terms, based on specifications developed by the Director of Engineering Integrate design, layout, utility, and regulatory requirements across the project so decisions are made with the full site picture in view Be on site daily once construction is underway Commercial Plant Delivery Lead project delivery for Terrion's first commercial manufacturing plant, carrying lessons from the pilot facility into the commercial schedule, budget, and contracting approach Establish the integrated schedule, cost baseline, and contractor and vendor structure for the commercial plant, and travel to the site as construction and commissioning require Support site selection, proposal development, and capital planning with schedule basis, basis of …
