We are seeking a Senior Buyer to join our team in Vancouver for upcoming projects. In this role you will be responsible for the end-to-end procurement of materials and equipment in support of engineering and construction projects, from project initiation through purchase order close-out. This role manages the sourcing, bidding, award, administration, and delivery of tagged, bulk, and engineered materials, while ensuring compliance with project requirements, company procedures, and applicable legislation.
Lead the procurement of materials and equipment for assigned projects, including local and international purchasing activities.
Develop and implement project-specific purchasing strategies, procedures, templates, and documentation in collaboration with the Project Procurement Manager.
Provide guidance, oversight, and mentorship to buyers and procurement team members.
Coordinate with engineering, project controls, quality, logistics, and other project stakeholders to prepare and execute procurement packages.
Prepare, issue, and administer RFQs, bid documents, addenda, purchase orders, and contractual documentation.
Manage the complete tendering process, including bidder communications, bid evaluations, commercial negotiations, award recommendations, and purchase order issuance.
Ensure procurement activities are conducted with integrity and in accordance with project, corporate, and regulatory requirements.
Administer purchase orders, including change management, revisions, claims, back charges, and close-out activities.
Support progress payment reviews and approvals in coordination with project and accounting teams.
Monitor supplier performance and expedite equipment, materials, vendor documentation, and deliverables to maintain project schedules.
Coordinate with quality and logistics teams to ensure inspections, non-conformance resolutions, shipping documentation, customs requirements, and deliveries are completed in accordance with purchase order terms and Incoterms.
Maintain accurate procurement records and reporting data, providing regular status updates to project teams and clients.
Interface with suppliers, clients, and internal stakeholders to proactively resolve procurement, expediting, and delivery issues.
Ensure all purchase orders are properly closed and documented in accordance with project and company requirements.
Relevant technical qualification or trade qualification in relevant discipline
• Experience as a Buyer in local and international markets
• Experience working on large or complex projects
• High degree of technical aptitude and familiarity with various materials, fabrication processes and supply items
• Ability to attain quality, cost and schedule objectives and strong deliverable focus
• Strong technical focus with a good understanding of engineering concepts
• Good understanding of procurement, contracting, pre-operational verification and commissioning methodologies
• Excellent understanding of project execution, especially materials management and scheduling.
