Senior Operations Manager

Overview We are seeking a dynamic and strategic Senior Operations Manager to lead and optimize our supply chain and distribution functions. This pivotal role involves overseeing end-to-end operations, driving process improvements, and ensuring seamless coordination across warehousing, transportation, and logistics teams. Duties Lead the planning, execution, and oversight of distribution operations, including warehouse management, transportation planning, and freight management to ensure timely delivery and cost efficiency. Develop and implement process improvement initiatives utilizing Lean methodologies to streamline workflows, reduce waste, and enhance productivity across all operational areas. Manage profit & loss statements by monitoring budgets, controlling costs, and optimizing resource allocation to meet financial targets. Oversee inventory management systems and inventory control procedures to maintain optimal stock levels while minimizing excess or obsolete inventory. Supervise warehouse operations including shipping & receiving, order fulfillment, dispatching, forklift operations, and warehouse safety protocols. Coordinate with third-party logistics providers (3PL), NVOCC (Non-Vessel Operating Common Carrier), procurement teams, and other stakeholders to ensure efficient supply chain flow. Utilize ERP systems such as AS400 or equivalent platforms for data analysis, reporting, demand planning, production planning, and supply chain analytics to support decision-making. Lead a team of supervisors and operational staff by providing managerial communication, fostering teamwork, and promoting a culture of continuous improvement. Implement transportation management systems (TMS) and warehouse management systems (WMS) to optimize logistics routes, freight costs, and warehouse distribution processes. Drive initiatives in procurement, purchasing, fleet management, materials management, and distribution management to enhance overall operational efficiency. Skills Proven experience in supervising warehouse operations with a strong understanding of warehouse management systems (WMS) and inventory control techniques. Extensive knowledge of supply chain management principles including demand planning, production planning, procurement, freight forwarding (including NVOCC), and distribution operations. Expertise in process improvement methodologies such as Lean or continuous improvement strategies to streamline workflows. Strong proficiency with ERP systems like AS400 or similar platforms; familiarity with supply chain analytics tools is highly desirable. Skilled in transportation management systems (TMS), fleet management software, and logistics management tools for effective transportation planning. Demonstrated ability to manage profit & loss statements with budgeting experience; capable of controlling costs while maintaining high service levels. Excellent team management skills with supervisory experience leading diverse operational teams in fast-paced environments. Effective communication skills for managerial reporting, cross-functional collaboration, and stakeholder engagement. Knowledge of warehouse safety standards including forklift operation certifications; experience with shipping & receiving procedures is preferred. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications for reporting and data analysis; familiarity with procurement platforms like Materials Management Systems is advantageous.
