Our Core Values We LOVE DeSoto L- We lift up our community O- We take ownership of our collective performance V- We value and respect all employees E- We empower employees to grow The purpose of this position is to perform a variety of tasks in the office, warehouse, and fleet maintenance shop to ensure that the vehicles/equipment are kept mechanically safe and repaired in an efficient, economical, and timely manner. This is accomplished by maintaining inventory; performing inspections; generating reports; managing the fleet maintenance database; and coordinating vehicle replacement system schedule. Other duties may include presenting information to department. Specific Duties and Responsibilities Maintains the Fleet Parts Warehouse and city fuel system by updating the inventory of parts in warehouse and inventory for fleet fueling in fleet database; balancing the inventory monthly; and providing updated monthly reports to department; Perform inspections and generate reports as required by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) by measuring and balancing fuel inventory daily; performing designated procedures; and testing throughout the year set forth by TCEQ to ensure that the underground storage tanks are in compliance and adequately maintained; Oversees the fleet maintenance database for citywide vehicles by maintaining the schedule for vehicle inspections; coordinating service repairs; and scheduling preventative maintenance; Coordinate the vehicle replacement system schedule by maintaining the vehicle and equipment database; equipment titles; and records of maintenance; and Performs other assigned duties. Qualifications Associate’s degree; Four (4) years of related work experience; Or equivalent training, education, and/or experience; and Valid Class B Driver’s License. Supplemental Information Knowledge of the methods, materials, tools, and standard practices of modern automotive technology Skill in the maintenance and operation of major automotive systems such as electric, mechanical, heating and cooling pneumatic, or electronic and typical causes of system malfunctions Knowledge of hazards and standard safety precautions of the trade Ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing, with co-workers, the public, and elected and appointed officials
