Senior Logistics Coordinator – Ocean & Air Freight Forwarding
ShipWise Logistics IncLocation: Airport Road & Highway 407, Brampton, ON Position: Full-Time, In-Office Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM Job Overview We are seeking an experienced Logistics Coordinator – Ocean & Air Freight Forwarding to join our team in Brampton. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of hands-on freight forwarding experience in Canada , with strong knowledge of Ocean and Air Import and Export operations . This is an operations-focused position requiring experience managing shipments from booking through final delivery, including documentation, carrier/agent coordination, customs clearance, trucking arrangements, billing, and customer communication. Mandarin or Korean language skills are considered a strong asset. Key Responsibilities Manage Ocean and Air Import and Export shipments from booking through final delivery. Handle FCL, LCL and Air Freight shipments. Coordinate bookings with steamship lines, airlines, co-loaders, overseas agents, truckers, warehouses, and other service providers. Track and trace shipments and proactively communicate shipment status, delays, and exceptions to customers. Arrange container pickup/delivery, drayage, LTL/FTL transportation, and warehouse services as required. Prepare, review, and verify shipping documentation, including: House Bills of Lading (HBL) Master Bills of Lading (MBL) Air Waybills (HAWB/MAWB) Commercial invoices and packing lists Arrival notices and delivery orders Import/export documentation Communicate with overseas agents and partners to ensure accurate and timely documentation. Coordinate with customs brokers to obtain customs releases and resolve documentation or clearance issues. Monitor free time, demurrage, detention, storage, and other shipment-related deadlines and charges. Obtain and negotiate rates with carriers, airlines, co-loaders, truckers, and other vendors. Provide freight quotations and routing options to customers and the sales team. Troubleshoot operational issues including shipment delays, documentation discrepancies, customs holds, missed deliveries, and carrier issues. Maintain strong relationships with customers, carriers, overseas agents, and service providers. Audit vendor invoices and ensure charges are accurate. Complete shipment costing and customer billing, ensuring all applicable charges are invoiced correctly. Maintain accurate shipment records and update the company's freight management system. Provide professional and timely customer service throughout the shipment lifecycle. Perform additional operational duties as required. Qualifications & Experience Minimum 5 years of freight forwarding experience , preferably with a freight forwarder or international logistics company in Canada. Strong hands-on experience with Ocean Import and Export operations. Strong hands-on experience with Air Import and Export operations. Good knowledge of FCL, LCL, air freight, drayage, trucking, customs clearance, and international shipping documentation . Experience preparing and reviewing HBL, MBL, HAWB and MAWB documentation . Understanding of Incoterms and international freight procedures. Experience working with steamship lines, airlines, co-loaders, overseas agents, customs brokers, truckers, and warehouses. Strong freight rate negotiation and vendor-management skills. Strong attention to detail, particularly with documentation, costing, and billing. Excellent written and verbal English communication skills. Strong organizational and multitasking abilities. Comfortable working in a fast-paced freight-forwarding environment and managing multiple shipments simultaneously. Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and freight-forwarding/TMS software.
