HA Logistics is looking for an experienced freight-brokerage operator to work directly with Clay and Whitney and take ownership of daily shipment execution. You will manage assigned freight from quote and tender through carrier coverage, pickup, delivery, documentation, and final exception resolution. This role offers hands-on responsibility and a direct working relationship with the people running the business. We value reliable follow-through, honest communication, and sound decisions under pressure. What you will own Source and qualify outside carriers, negotiate rates, book capacity, and arrange backup coverage. Manage dry van, refrigerated (reefer), and flatbed shipments, including tracking and proactive customer updates. Verify appointments, equipment, dimensions, weight, facility instructions, and live-unload versus drop-trailer requirements. Confirm shipment-specific reefer temperature and operating instructions, tarping, securement, and security requirements as applicable. Handle carrier falloffs, delays, and service exceptions; escalate material risks early with recovery options. Support routine spot pricing, protecting margin and obtaining approval for unusual costs or commitments. Prepare and review rate confirmations, BOLs, PODs, shipment notes, and accessorial documentation. Obtain written accessorial approvals according to company procedures and close outstanding follow-ups. Required experience At least three years of direct 3PL or freight-brokerage operations experience; three to five years or more is ideal. Personally managed truckload freight from quote or tender through delivery, POD collection, and final exception resolution. Hands-on outside-carrier sourcing and rate negotiation. Experience with dry van, refrigerated (reefer), and flatbed freight. Working knowledge of TMS platforms, load boards, carrier qualification, appointment management, and freight documents. Direct communication with customers, drivers, dispatchers, warehouses, and receivers. Understanding of margin, deadhead, rate resistance, detention, layover, and approval limits. Partial, expedited, multi-stop, tarping, securement, and accessorial experience is strongly preferred. Your experience should include direct brokerage execution beyond tracking shipments or dispatching company-owned trucks. How you work Ownership: You maintain control of shipments and follow-ups through completion. Proactive communication: Customers receive accurate updates before they have to ask. Early escalation: You bring the facts, likely impact, and practical recovery options while there is still time to act. Commercial judgment: You balance service and margin and know when approval is required. Detail discipline: You catch mismatches and missing instructions before they disrupt a shipment. Honesty: You verify facts and communicate bad news promptly. Small-team mentality: You cover freight, answer calls, collect documents, and help teammates finish the work. Success in your first 90 days First 30 days: Learn our customers, systems, procedures, and approval limits while taking ownership of assigned shipments. By 60 days: Independently manage an agreed workload, including routine coverage, tracking, appointments, updates, and documentation. By 90 days: Reliably manage your assigned freight and follow-ups, resolve routine exceptions, and escalate larger issues with recommendations.
