A longstanding heavy civil construction company is hiring a Senior Heavy Equipment Diesel Mechanic in Pleasanton, CA to maintain fleet equipment and improve yard operations. Duties & Responsibilities Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulics, suspension, brakes, HVAC, and electrical systems on heavy equipment, dump trucks, and fleet vehicles. Maintain Caterpillar, Bobcat, Kubota, and similar equipment, including skid steers, excavators, and loaders. Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, oil changes, tire service, wheel alignments, and repairs to maximize equipment uptime. Fabricate parts and equipment modifications using welding equipment, hand tools, and power tools as needed. Safely operate heavy equipment, coordinate equipment movement, loading and unloading, and maintain organized yard operations and parts inventory. Establish and maintain service schedules, inspection checklists, repair logs, and maintenance processes, coordinating parts reorders with Procurement and directing yard helpers as staffing allows Requirements Required: Proven hands-on diesel repair experience with heavy equipment, diesel trucks, fleet vehicles, or similar equipment. Hands-on experience with Caterpillar, Bobcat, Kubota, or comparable heavy equipment. Working knowledge of diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulics, electrical systems, HVAC, brakes, and suspension systems. Ability to read schematics, use diagnostic tools, and troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues. Fabrication experience using welding equipment, hand tools, and power tools. Comfortable operating skid steers, excavators, loaders, and other heavy equipment safely. Strong troubleshooting skills, safe work habits, and ability to work independently and manage repair priorities. Preferred: Experience organizing a shop or yard, managing parts inventory, or establishing maintenance processes. Previous leadership experience managing yard operations or directing a small team.
