Senior Freight Broker — Founding Broker

Help grow a Veteran-Owned Freight Brokerage. Meluw Logistics Group LLC (MLG) is a veteran-owned U.S. freight brokerage focused on connecting shippers with reliable motor carriers and delivering professional, dependable transportation solutions. We are launching our brokerage operation and are looking for an experienced Senior Freight Broker to become one of the first key members of the MLG team. This is an opportunity for someone who doesn’t want to simply work another brokerage desk. We are looking for a proven freight broker who can help build the business—develop shipper relationships, bring in profitable freight, leverage carrier relationships, negotiate rates, and manage shipments from booking through delivery. This Role Is For an Experienced Broker We are not primarily looking for entry-level candidates. Our ideal candidate has a proven history in freight brokerage and can demonstrate: * Successful shipper/customer acquisition * Strong carrier relationships * Proven freight negotiation skills * Ability to protect and grow gross margins * Experience managing loads independently * Knowledge of U.S. freight lanes and transportation markets * Experience with DAT, Truckstop, and/or comparable platforms * Experience with a TMS * A strong understanding of carrier qualification and fraud prevention An existing book of business or established shipper relationships is highly valued. Your Mission at MLG As our Senior Freight Broker, you will help establish and grow MLG’s brokerage operation. You will be responsible for: Developing Shipper Business * Prospect and acquire new shipper accounts. * Build long-term customer relationships. * Identify recurring freight opportunities. * Develop profitable lanes. * Quote and negotiate customer rates. * Maintain exceptional customer service. Managing Freight * Source qualified carriers for customer loads. * Negotiate carrier rates. * Protect MLG’s gross margin. * Coordinate pickups and deliveries. * Track shipments and communicate updates. * Handle detention, TONU, lumper, claims, delays, and other issues. * Obtain PODs and ensure loads are properly closed. Building the Carrier Network * Develop relationships with reliable motor carriers. * Recruit carriers for specific lanes and equipment. * Verify carrier authority, insurance, and operating status. * Maintain carrier relationships. * Help protect MLG from double-brokering, identity fraud, and other transportation scams. Growing the Business You will have significant responsibility for helping MLG grow its: * Revenue * Gross margin * Shipper base * Carrier network * Recurring freight * Market presence What We Offer Competitive Base + Performance Commission Base Salary: $55,000–$65,000 annually, depending on experience. Commission: Performance-based commission tied to profitable gross margin. Additional Incentives: Opportunities for bonuses based on customer acquisition, revenue, margin, and company growth.
