Summary
RMI seeks a senior enterprise revenue leader to join the Fundraising and Engagement leadership team as Senior Director, Revenue Strategy & Operations, reporting to the Chief Development and Engagement Officer. This role owns the strategic, analytical, and operational engine that drives RMI’s global revenue and engagement performance across philanthropic giving, public sector funding, and mission-aligned earned revenue.
The Senior Director partners closely with executive leadership, Finance, Programs, and Engagement teams to set revenue strategy; lead forecasting, scenario planning, and portfolio management; and ensure systems, data, and operations translate into clear insights and strong execution. The role balances strategic leadership with hands-on direction of enterprise revenue systems, planning cadences, and operational excellence in a complex, fast-evolving global organization.

Core Responsibilities
1. Enterprise Revenue Strategy, Forecasting & Performance (Approx. 45%)
Lead enterprise-wide revenue strategy, multi-year planning, forecasting, and scenario analysis across all revenue streams, ensuring alignment with RMI’s organizational strategy and financial plans.
Serve as the primary strategic partner to Finance on revenue assumptions, forecasting integrity, and risk/opportunity assessment.
Own revenue performance management, delivering clear, decision-ready insights to executive leadership through weekly, monthly, and quarterly reporting.
Translate complex fundraising and engagement data into actionable intelligence that drives portfolio prioritization, resource allocation, and cross-vertical coordination.
Advance audience and engagement funnel strategy by partnering with Communications and Marketing to integrate data-driven insights into acquisition, cultivation, and retention strategies.
2. Global Revenue Systems, Data Quality & Analytics (Approx. 15%)
Set the enterprise vision for CRM, data governance, analytics, and AI-enabled modeling in support of revenue growth and stakeholder engagement.
Oversee Salesforce strategy and performanceensuring high-quality data, strong adoption, and scalable reporting.
Establish standards for data ingestion, analytics, and insight delivery across regions and revenue types.
Adapt systems, processes, and reporting to support global partnerships and non-US fundraising in alignment with organizational standards.
Provide executive leadership on audience segmentation and targeting across fundraising and engagement channels.
3. Prospect Strategy, Pipeline Management & Revenue Oversight (Approx. 20%)
Lead RMI’s global prospect research and pipeline strategy to expand and strengthen the portfolio of high-capacity donors, partners, and revenue opportunities.
Oversee revenue pipeline health, movement, and performance across programs and initiatives.
Ensure consistent standards, insights, and accountability in prospect development and portfolio management practices.
4. Revenue & Engagement Operations Leadership (Approx. 20%)
Lead departmental operations to improve efficiency, compliance, and effectiveness across revenue-related processes, including grants, contracts, and procurement interfaces.
Champion the use of project management, CRM, and enterprise systems (e.g., Workday, Monday.com) to strengthen internal alignment and execution.
Lead cross-functional task forces and rapid-response initiatives to address emerging organizational needs and scale best practices.
Operate effectively in a fast-paced, evolving environment, balancing long-term strategy with real-time problem solving.
Qualifications
15+ years of experience in global philanthropic and consulting revenue strategies
Organizational skills for successful solicitation and stewardship of earned revenue and individual, foundation, corporate philanthropy, government and public sector funding.
Experience building and overseeing strategic growth campaigns, including complex program and pipeline performance management, both in and outside of the United States.
Outstanding analytical skills in revenue fundraising performance assessment.
Outstanding team leadership, management, and project management skills.
Experience leading operational change in fast-growing organization.
Experience in both for-profit and nonprofit environments desired.
Experience with Salesforce, Workday, Monday.com or other collaboration products.
Location
We are a remote-ready company with team members around the globe. Our beautiful and welcoming offices are available for meetings or focused work, whether you are traveling through or living nearby. Our U.S. offices are in New York City; Washington DC; Oakland, California; Boulder, Colorado, and Basalt, Colorado. This role can be located from anywhere in the continental United States.

We love seeing each other in person! We occasionally gather for shared time together like retreats and learning experiences. Be ready to travel for occasional in-person meetings (and of course, we cover travel costs). Some roles may require more travel, which will be discussed during the hiring process.
Compensation
At RMI, we prioritize fairness in our pay practices. Salaries are determined based on a mix of experience, market benchmarks, and internal equity across similar roles. The salary range of this position is $159,000-$197,000. New hires typically start toward the lower end of the range, depending on experience and alignment with the role’s scope. In addition to base salary, this position includes an annual bonus target of 20% and eligibility for merit-based increases, which are tied to both individual and organizational performance.
