About Us - Elizabeth Design Co. is a full-service interior design + build studio in Virginia Beach. We design and build for how a space functions, flows, and feels, starting with how our clients actually live. We carry every project from first sketch to final walk-through with one team under one roof. Our work is coastal and warm: bespoke homes, cottages, and remodels along the Virginia coast, shaped by honest materials, natural light, and close attention to detail. We believe in the aesthetics of joy: design that makes everyday life feel better. Position Overview - We are seeking an experienced, highly detail-oriented, and creative Senior Designer to join our team. The ideal candidate has a strong aesthetic background in high-end residential design, a firm grasp of spatial planning and construction documentation, and a proven track record of managing full-scope projects independently. In this role, you will lead high-end design projects, interface directly with clients, collaborate with our build/construction teams and architectural trade partners, and oversee installation as applicable. You will confidently lead client meetings and manage and mentor our junior designers as the firm seeks to expand. In this fast-paced work environment EDC relies on every team member to problem-solve and think on their feet. Key Responsibilities - Design & Concept Development Lead overall design strategy for high-end residential projects, including space planning, architectural detailing, custom cabinetry/millwork, and hard/soft surface selections. Develop complete interior design schemes, including material palettes, finish schedules, custom furniture, lighting, window treatments, and vintage/unique sourcing. Prepare presentation materials, 3D renderings, and mood boards to effectively communicate design concepts to clients. Technical Documentation & Drafting Create comprehensive CAD drawing packages, construction documents, millwork details, electrical/lighting plans, and tile layouts. Collaborate closely with engineers, architects, and in-house project managers to ensure design execution meets technical standards and site realities. Produce precise specification sheets for all custom items, finishes, fixtures, and hardware. Project Management & Execution Serve as the primary lead for client relationships throughout the lifecycle of assigned projects. Work seamlessly with build teams, superintendents, and subcontractors to resolve site conditions and maintain design integrity during construction. Coordinate with procurement team members to review specifications, lead times, quote approvals, and percentage-based markup invoicing. Manage and attend job site walkthroughs, trade meetings, and client milestone updates. Lead final styling and white-glove installation to deliver fully realized, move-in-ready homes. Qualifications & Requirements - Experience: Minimum of 5 years of professional interior design experience specifically in highend residential design {design-build firm experience strongly preferred). Education: Bachelor's degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or a related field. Technical Skills: o Advanced proficiency in AutoCad or Revit, SketchUp, and Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, lnDesign). o Proficiency in project management software (experience with Buildertrend or similar client portal/construction management platforms is a strong plus). Industry Knowledge: Exceptional understanding of architectural drawings, construction techniques, millwork fabrication, material lead times, and custom furniture construction. Communication & Leadership: o Professional, articulate client presentation skills with a strong client-servicing posture. o Strong negotiation and communication abilities when interfacing with trades, vendors, and clients. o Exceptional organizational skills and ability to manage multiple high-stakes projects simultaneously.
