Responsibilities: Related Digital is seeking a Senior Design Manager to manage the design process for assigned hyperscale data center projects, from concept through construction documents. This role coordinates external architecture, structural, civil, and MEP engineering consultants to keep design work on schedule, on budget, and aligned with project and client technical requirements. The right candidate has managed design on large, technically complex projects and is comfortable owning the day-to-day coordination on one or more active campuses. We’ll Trust You To Manage the design process for assigned data center projects, from site plan through construction documentation. Coordinate external architecture, structural, civil, and MEP engineering consultants, monitoring deliverables against schedule and quality standards. Review design submissions for code compliance, constructability, and established design standards. Partner with construction, site selection, and procurement teams on design-related schedule and cost matters. Monitor design budgets and consultant fee performance on assigned projects. Participate in technical discussions with clients and consultants on design requirements and approvals. Track entitlements, permitting, and utility coordination items related to design milestones. Identify design conflicts and assist in evaluating value engineering options. Stay current on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in data center design. Track and report on design-related cost, schedule, and quality metrics. Prepare design status updates for project leadership. Qualifications: You’ll Need To Have A minimum of 7 years of experience in design management, architecture, or engineering, including work on large-scale or technically complex construction projects. Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Working knowledge of MEP systems and structural design as applied to large-scale commercial or industrial facilities. Experience coordinating external design consultants on active construction projects. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Experience in data center or mission-critical facility design preferred. Professional licensure (RA, PE) or equivalent credential a plus. Familiarity with data center-specific technical requirements, including power density, cooling, and redundancy standards. Ability to travel to project sites across the portfolio.
