Senior Demand Planner - Packaging

Job Title: Senior Demand Planner – Packaging Department: Packaging Procurement Reports to: Vice President of Packaging Procurement Location: Salinas, CA, with travel to Holtville, CA; Yuma, AZ; and San Luis, AZ approximately 1–2 times per desert season. The Church family legacy is rooted in service, innovation, and a commitment to excellence. ABOUT THE ROLE Own packaging planning for a family-owned Salinas Valley grower-processor. You’ll forecast what our carton yards and facilities need across the season, place the orders, run the San Luis, AZ packaging program, and give leadership the numbers they make decisions on. WHAT YOU’LL OWN Demand and supply plans for packaging across multiple carton yards and facilities, including long-range plans for commodity packaging through seasonal transitions San Luis, AZ packaging: all purchasing, working with the San Luis team on needs, orders, receipts and inventory accuracy Purchasing: POs, blanket make-to-order quantities, and vendor compliance with our min/max program Seasonal transfers of materials between carton yards and to and from San Luis Inventory health: month-end reconciliation[AT2.1], pricing checks, third-party billings with the Carton Yard Manager, and early warning on shortages, excess and aged stock Analysis: usage, seasonality and lead-time trends in Tableau, Excel and Famous, turned into purchasing recommendations Reporting to leadership on aged and obsolete materials and supply risk Vendor relationships: weekly vendor meetings, vendor records, and resolving PO quantity and pricing issues with Finance Other duties as assigned. WHAT YOU BRING Required 5+ years in supply chain planning, purchasing or procurement, including forecasting and long-range planning Production planning and packaging experience Advanced Excel (pivot tables, lookups, forecasting models) and experience with an ERP system and MRP Bilingual English/Spanish, to work directly with carton yard, field operations and San Luis facility teams High school diploma Nice to have Fresh produce, agriculture or food manufacturing background Tableau or a similar reporting tool; Famous experience ASCM/APICS certification (CPIM or CSCP) Bachelor’s degree SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS Must be able to travel to Holtville, CA, Yuma, AZ, and San Luis, AZ locations as required. Weekend and after-hours phone availability is a regular part of this role; occasional Saturdays and evenings during operational peaks. Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with the ability to build forecasts, analyze large data sets, and apply formulas and percentages to solve business problems. Strong organizational, time management, and multitasking skills with excellent attention to detail and accuracy. Self-motivated with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet required attendance schedules. Ability to interpret and execute instructions provided in written, verbal, or diagram form. Skilled in solving complex problems with multiple variables and exercising sound independent judgment in non-standard situations. Proficient in reading and writing professional correspondence, including memos, emails, and reports, and in presenting analysis to leadership. Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills with the ability to build lasting relationships with colleagues, clients, and stakeholders.
