Senior Climate Resilience Consultant (Transportation)
ICFDescription Senior Climate Resilience Consultant (Transportation Focus) Location: This position is eligible for a hybrid work arrangement, with a requirement to work from either our New York City, NY or Arlington, VA office two days per week. A fully remote work option may be considered for highly qualified candidates. ICF is an industry leader in supporting government and private sector clients in understanding their risks from climate change and developing solutions to increase their resiliency. ICF is hiring a manager-level position to support our clients in enhancing their infrastructure climate change resiliency. This position will work in a larger team to help steer projects to meet the ultimate goals of our clients. The successful hire will be responsible for overseeing junior staff, interacting with clients, managing projects and budgets, and ensuring exceptional services and products for our clients. Collaborate with our team on projects that include: Conducting state-level or regional transportation vulnerability and risk assessments and developing Resilience Improvement Plans. Conducting vulnerability assessments of municipal infrastructure and developing adaptation plans. This may include mainstreaming resilience into their processes like their asset management or capital planning process or developing adaptation pathways. Helping public agencies build the business case for investing in resilience. Creating climate resilience design guidelines/manuals to guide infrastructure project development. Minimum Qualifications To Apply Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in transportation planning, environmental studies, public policy, engineering, urban planning, climate sciences, or a related field. 8+ years of experience supporting or leading climate change, resilience, and/or sustainability, AND transportation-related projects. Experience managing project tasks, budgets, schedules, deliverables, and client relationships. Experience overseeing, mentoring, or developing junior staff. Demonstrated experience using Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook in a professional work environment. Preferred Qualifications To Highlight In Your Resume Experience in the transportation sector, such as previous employment with a DOT or MPO, or a related consultancy. Background in engineering Comfort working with GIS, R, and/or Python. Experience developing climate adaptation and resiliency plans. Ability to keep a team on strict schedules and within budget. Additional Skills Understanding of transportation system operations, design, engineering, or planning. Ability to develop conceptual design solutions for climate change risks and develop order-of-magnitude cost estimates. Familiarity with flood risk modeling. The ability to understand the bigger picture goals of a project and then break down the work into logical and manageable steps. Comfort working with data and scientific information. Excellent communication skills, including to be able to synthesize detailed and complex information, identify salient points, and explain it in clear language. Experience facilitating efficient and effective meetings. Compensation: Although the posted range below is broader, this position is anticipated to offer a base salary from $100,000 - $120,000. Actual compensation may vary based on the candidate’s experience, education, and other relevant factors.
