Senior Buyer - Strategic Sourcing

Norwood Sales is looking for an experienced Senior Buyer – Strategic Sourcing to join our growing manufacturing operation. You'll own our key supplier relationships, plan our material and component needs for the long term, and make sourcing decisions that directly shape our costs, quality and growth. This role works closely with leadership and has real influence on how we buy, who we partner with and how we plan for the future. What You'll Do Manage key supplier accounts and build long-term partnerships with our most important vendors Develop long-term sourcing plans for raw materials, components and outsourced parts that support company growth Lead annual and multi-year supplier agreements, including pricing, terms, capacity and service levels Work with leadership, engineering and production on forecasts, new products and future material needs Monitor market trends, commodity pricing and supply conditions, and plan ahead to control cost and risk Find, qualify and develop new suppliers, both domestic and international, when they offer a better fit Run RFQs, evaluate bids and award business based on total cost, quality and delivery Hold regular business reviews with key suppliers and track performance on cost, on-time delivery and quality Find and drive cost-reduction projects, alternate sources and make-vs-buy opportunities Manage supply risk and build backup sources for critical materials and components Oversee import activity when needed, including freight, duties and landed-cost analysis Help improve purchasing processes and how we use our ERP/MRP system Share knowledge with and support the Purchasing Agent Report on spend, savings, supplier performance and cost trends to leadership What We're Looking For 7+ years of purchasing or sourcing experience in a manufacturing environment (required) Agricultural equipment or heavy fabrication experience (preferred) Steel sourcing experience (required) International sourcing experience (required) Proven record of managing key supplier accounts and long-term agreements Strong negotiation skills with a record of measurable cost savings Strategic thinker who can plan ahead and balance cost, quality and supply risk ERP/MRP system experience Advanced Excel skills for cost modeling and spend analysis Able to read engineering drawings and understand material specifications Bachelor's degree in supply chain, business, engineering or a related field (preferred) Other Duties Please note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job.
