About the Role: 


The Senior Buyer/Planner role is a full-time position based in our manufacturing plant in Lincolnton, NC, reporting directly to the Purchasing Manager.  This position offers an opportunity to lead procurement and planning activities to ensure timely availability of materials, optimizing inventory levels while supporting production schedules and customer demands.  You will also act as a strategic partner to supplier and internal stakeholders to drive cost savings and efficiencies.


In This Role, You Will: 

  • Enter and manage purchase orders to maintain inventory levels using MRP, Requisitions, or other methods.
  • Gather quotations, examine bids and award business to suppliers.
  • Engage with stakeholder in other departments and owns supplier relationships.
  • Lead problem solving efforts between suppliers and internal stakeholders.
  • Act as first line of escalation between LEEBOY and the supplier.
  • Assist with documentation of specifications and make suggestions to engineering as needed to maintain supply.
  • Evaluate vendor reliability, develop new sources of supply when necessary.
  • Monitors cost, schedule, and scope of assigned suppliers to assure best quality at lowest total cost.
  • Ability to identify distressed suppliers and calibrate them as needed to correct and support business continuity.
  • Plans and drives production schedule based on forecast and inventory on hand, communicating this information laterally and vertically through various reports.
  • Tactful communicator who follows up relentlessly.
  • Maintains system integrity for assigned products.
  • Manage a cost savings program with suppliers.
  • Participates effectively as a member of a team by promoting the exchanges of ideas, information and feedback.
  • Strives to be a good steward of operating income for business by preventing excessive inventory.
Requirements

Qualifications: 

  • BS in Business, Finance, or Supply Chain with 3 - 5 years' experience in a manufacturing supply chain environment.
  • Or 10+ years of purchasing experience in lieu of degree.
  • Strong negotiation and analytical skills
  • Must possess an understanding of MRP and material flow in a manufacturing plant.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to change quickly.
  • Epicor experience preferred.  SAP or Oracle are also acceptable.
  • MS Office experience required.
