Senior Buyer - Packaging Pontiac, MI | 100% Onsite | Direct Hire Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Buyer - Packaging to lead packaging procurement and sourcing activities supporting multiple manufacturing locations across North America. This is an excellent opportunity for a procurement professional with experience in automotive manufacturing, packaging commodities, and multi-site sourcing who wants to take ownership of a high-visibility category within a global organization. You'll work closely with packaging engineers, manufacturing teams, suppliers, and leadership to develop sourcing strategies, negotiate supplier agreements, reduce costs, and ensure reliable packaging supply across multiple plants. What You'll Be Responsible For Own procurement and sourcing of packaging materials , including corrugated packaging, returnable containers, dunnage, pallets, labels, and other packaging supplies. Support packaging procurement across multiple manufacturing locations throughout North America . Partner directly with packaging engineers to ensure sourcing strategies support design, quality, cost, and operational requirements. Develop and execute packaging category and sourcing strategies focused on cost, quality, supplier performance, and supply continuity . Identify, evaluate, qualify, and manage suppliers. Lead supplier negotiations involving pricing, contracts, commercial terms, and service expectations. Monitor commodity and raw material markets, including paper, plastics, and wood , to identify cost and supply risks. Drive cost-reduction and value-improvement initiatives without compromising packaging quality or performance. Track supplier performance, spend, savings, sourcing activity, and procurement KPIs. Provide leadership with visibility into sourcing strategies, supplier risks, cost savings, and supply chain conditions. What We're Looking For 5+ years of procurement, purchasing, or strategic sourcing experience , with strong exposure to packaging and indirect materials. 2+ years of automotive manufacturing experience. Experience sourcing packaging such as corrugated materials, returnables, dunnage, pallets, labels, plastics, or related commodities . Experience supporting multiple plants or multi-site manufacturing operations . Strong supplier negotiation and vendor-management experience. Experience with contract negotiations, cost analysis, supplier performance, and strategic sourcing. Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience. Ability to work 100% onsite in the Pontiac, MI area .
