Senior Buyer - International Sourcing and Purchasing Projects

SENIOR BUYER A1 Sourcing Division – Bois-des-Filion Head Office JOIN A GROWING SOURCING TEAM A1 Imports is a Quebec-based company with more than 23 years of experience in international sourcing and procurement. Through our A1 Sourcing Division, we help Canadian companies improve their purchasing strategy, reduce costs and develop reliable international supply chains. We provide a complete turnkey solution, from supplier sourcing and product development to production follow-up, quality control, logistics, customs clearance and warehousing. As our sourcing division continues to grow, we are looking for an experienced Senior Buyer who wants to take ownership of key purchasing projects and play an important role in the continued development of the business. THE ROLE Reporting directly to the Director, the Senior Buyer will manage international sourcing and purchasing projects from supplier identification through final delivery. This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys negotiating, finding solutions, developing suppliers and making things happen. You will have the autonomy to manage your files, negotiate directly with international suppliers and ensure that every project moves forward efficiently on time and within budget. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Source and qualify international suppliers Request, analyze and compare quotations Negotiate pricing, payment terms, lead times and purchasing conditions Prepare and manage purchase orders Coordinate samples, specifications, packaging and product requirements Follow production schedules and ensure delivery deadlines are respected Monitor product quality and coordinate inspections or testing when required Manage supplier issues related to pricing, production, quality or delivery Follow international freight, customs, duties and logistics Maintain accurate purchasing information in the ERP system Monitor inventory levels and purchasing requirements Identify opportunities to reduce costs and improve purchasing efficiency Maintain strong, long-term relationships with suppliers Manage multiple sourcing projects and priorities simultaneously Monitor market trends, pricing and supplier developments Prepare purchasing and cost analysis reports WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR We are looking for someone who is proactive, organized, resourceful and highly accountable. You are comfortable taking ownership of your projects, negotiating with suppliers and following through until the job is completed. Qualifications 7+ years of experience in purchasing, procurement or sourcing – essential Experience dealing with international suppliers and with Asia must Fluent in English and French, written and spoken – essential Mandarin Chinese – asset Strong negotiation and supplier-management skills Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities Excellent organizational and follow-up skills Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment Strong knowledge of Excel and Outlook – mandatory Experience with an ERP system – mandatory Knowledge of international freight, customs and Incoterms – asset College or university degree in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration or a related field – asset Team player with a strong sense of initiative and a desire to grow with the company WHAT WE OFFER Salary based on experience and qualifications Permanent, full-time position Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Group insurance after 3 months Group RRSP after 3 months Employee discounts across our divisions Company social activities Free on-site parking Stable and growing Quebec company Direct involvement in international sourcing projects Opportunity to have a real impact on purchasing decisions and sourcing projects The position is based at our Bois-des-Filion head office.
