About the Role:

The Buyer plays a critical role in the manufacturing supply chain by managing the procurement of materials and services essential for production. This position is responsible for ensuring timely acquisition of quality materials at competitive prices to support uninterrupted manufacturing operations. The Senior Buyer collaborates closely with suppliers, internal departments, and inventory management teams to optimize inventory levels and reduce costs. This role requires strategic planning and negotiation skills to build strong supplier relationships and secure favorable terms. Ultimately, the Senior Buyer contributes to the overall efficiency and profitability of the manufacturing process by maintaining a reliable and cost-effective supply chain.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data analysis, reporting, and inventory management.
  • Experience using Material Requirements Planning (MRP) systems to manage procurement and inventory.
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification in Supply Chain Management or Purchasing (e.g., CPSM, CPP).
  • Experience with ERP systems such as SAP or Oracle.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex supplier networks and multi-site procurement.
  • Advanced data analytics skills to support strategic sourcing decisions.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in purchasing or procurement within the manufacturing industry.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute purchasing strategies to meet production schedules and inventory targets.
  • Manage supplier relationships, including evaluating performance, negotiating contracts, and resolving issues.
  • Utilize Material Requirements Planning (MRP) systems to forecast demand and plan procurement activities accordingly.
  • Analyze market trends and supplier capabilities to identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams such as production, quality assurance, and logistics to ensure material availability and compliance with specifications.

Skills:

The Buyer uses Microsoft Excel daily to analyze purchasing data, track inventory levels, and generate reports that inform procurement decisions. Proficiency with Material Requirements Planning (MRP) systems enables the candidate to accurately forecast material needs and schedule orders to align with production demands. Strong negotiation skills are applied when engaging with suppliers to secure favorable pricing and contract terms, ensuring cost efficiency. Communication and collaboration skills are essential for coordinating with internal teams and suppliers to resolve issues and maintain supply chain continuity. Additionally, analytical skills support the identification of market trends and opportunities for process improvements, contributing to the overall effectiveness of the procurement function.
