Role Description The Senior Buyer role at Ruelily is a full-time, on-site position based in the New York City Metropolitan Area. This role is responsible for developing and executing buying strategies for children’s apparel, including private label and licensed character merchandise. Day-to-day activities include sourcing new vendors, negotiating pricing and terms, analyzing sales and margin performance, and managing seasonal assortments to meet financial and brand objectives. The Senior Buyer will collaborate closely with design, merchandising, planning, marketing, and e-commerce teams to ensure collections align with market trends, brand positioning, and customer preferences. This role also involves monitoring inventory levels, identifying opportunities for optimization, and making data-informed decisions to drive growth and profitability. Qualifications Strong merchandising and buying experience, including assortment planning, vendor selection, and cost negotiations. Proficiency in sales, margin, and inventory analysis, with the ability to use data and reporting tools to guide purchasing decisions. Knowledge of children’s apparel, fashion trends, and licensed character brands, with an understanding of consumer behavior in online retail. Excellent communication and relationship-building skills for collaborating with cross-functional teams and external partners. High level of organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize multiple projects in a fast-paced environment. Experience in e-commerce or omnichannel retail buying is strongly preferred. Bachelor’s degree in Business, Fashion Merchandising, Supply Chain Management, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience. Previous experience in a senior or lead buying role, ideally within apparel, is highly beneficial.
