Role Overview We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Buyer to support the tactical procurement activities in a fast-paced aerospace and defense manufacturing environment. This role will be responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and issuing purchase orders across categories including controls & accessories, test hardware, and manufacturing support equipment. The ideal candidate will possess strong supplier management skills, a solid procurement background under the FAR/DFARS, experience in regulated manufacturing environments, and the ability to drive cost savings while ensuring strict compliance with quality, delivery, and government regulations. What You’ll Do... List the core functions the role must be able to perform. Use action verbs; aim for 6–10 items. Add an approximate % of time if useful. Lead sourcing and procurement activities for various categories. Manage RFQs/RFPs, supplier selection, bid analysis, negotiations, and contract execution. Procure electronics, PCB’s, motors, pumps, tooling, test hardware, and related manufacturing support equipment. Ensure full compliance with FAR/DFARS requirements and all government contracting regulations throughout the procurement process. Prepare, review, and maintain all required compliance documentation, including flow-down of government contract clauses to suppliers. Collaborate cross-functionally with Engineering, Operations, Facilities, Quality, Finance, and Program Management teams to support business objectives. Negotiate pricing, payment terms, lead times, service agreements, and long-term supply arrangements. Develop and maintain supplier relationships to ensure performance in quality, delivery, cost, and responsiveness. Identify and execute cost reduction, process improvement, and supply chain risk mitigation initiatives. Maintain accurate procurement records, purchase orders, and sourcing documentation within ERP/MRP systems. Support audits and documentation requirements related to AS9100, ISO standards, and government contracting compliance. You have... Minimum qualifications a candidate must hold to be considered. Keep these defensible and job-related. Education Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or related field preferred. Experience 3–7+ years of purchasing or procurement experience in manufacturing, aerospace, defense, or highly regulated industries. Skills & Competencies Hands-on sourcing experience with electronics, including PCBs, motors, and pumps. Strong working knowledge of FAR/DFARS and related compliance documentation for U.S. government contracts. Demonstrated experience preparing, managing, and auditing procurement compliance documentation. Strong negotiation, analytical, and supplier management skills. Working knowledge of ERP/MRP systems Ability to read and interpret statements of work, and equipment specifications. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and procurement analytics. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
