Senior Buyer
Darrah ElectricJob Summary The Senior Buyer is responsible for managing strategic supplier relationships, purchasing materials and services, negotiating pricing and contracts, and ensuring the timely procurement of goods required to support production, inventory, and customer delivery requirements. This position serves as a key liaison between suppliers, production planning, engineering, quality, and finance to achieve cost, quality, and delivery objectives. Responsibilities Procure raw materials, components, and services to support production schedules and customer requirements. Manage supplier relationships and serve as the primary point of contact for assigned vendors. Negotiate pricing, lead times, payment terms, and supply agreements to achieve cost savings and operational goals. Analyze supplier performance related to quality, delivery, responsiveness, and cost competitiveness. Develop and implement sourcing strategies for assigned commodities and product categories. Review MRP recommendations and place purchase orders as required. Monitor open purchase orders and expedite deliveries to prevent production shortages. Collaborate with Production Planning, Engineering, Quality, and Operations to resolve supply chain issues. Support inventory reduction initiatives while maintaining required service levels. Conduct business reviews, and performance assessments. Lead cost reduction and continuous improvement initiatives. Identify and mitigate supply chain risks, including single-source and capacity constraints. Prepare and analyze purchasing reports, supplier scorecards, and spend analysis data. Support new product introductions and supplier qualification activities. Mentor and provide guidance to Buyers and Purchasing Coordinators. Q ualifications Education: - Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering (BME) - Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered Experience: 5-10 years of purchasing, procurement, or supply chain experience Experience in a manufacturing environment Proven experience negotiating supplier pricing and contracts Experiences using ERP/MRP systems Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Strong negotiation and supplier management skills. Thorough understanding of procurement and supply chain principles. Ability to analyze costs, pricing structures, and market trends. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Working knowledge of inventory management and production planning concepts. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Proficient in Microsoft 365 apps and ERP systems. Ability to prioritize multiple projects and meet deadlines. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Ability to build relationships across all levels of the organization.
